"Birthday"moon?

You ladies have all been so supportive and given me such great advice, I wanted to see what your thoughts are on this. FI and I are getting married on 12/12 (Friday). Our idea was to take a mini honeymoon to the Poconos that Saturday to Monday. then we started talking...we've started a tradition of ringing in the New Year in the Poconos. (My bday is New Year's Day). We started thinking should we take that tradition and make it into a mini birthday/honeymoon? Since we're paying for the wedding ourselves we won't have the money to go twice. Thoughts??

I don't even understand what you question is?

Are you asking our permisson to take a trip? You don't need a reason to celebrate or take a trip.

  • Do what works for you! :) It doesn't matter when you take your honeymoon. Many couples delay their honeymoon for many types of reasons.

  • No, I'm not asking permission...lol. Just wanted opinions, that's all

  • We delayed our honeymoon because we couldn't afford to travel right away (plus we were running out of vacation days).
  • If you're going to go somewhere that requires a lot of travel and maybe activity, I would definitely suggest delaying the honeymoon. Right after the wedding, you're going to want to rest, not hop on a plane for ages. I think having your "birthdaymoon" would be very cool!

  • Take your honeymoon whenever you want to. It's just a vacation. Whether or not it coincides with New Year/your birthday is totally up to you. I personally think it would be a good use of money and vacation time to combine them if it makes sense to you!

  • If it would make getting time off from work easier, I'd wait and go for New Year's. We are taking a 12 day honeymoon. I timed it so that it partially coincided with my winter break from work, so I only have to take 5 vacation days.

I think she was just wondering if they should go to the Pocono's the weekend of the wedding, or New Years weekend instead.

I say sure why not go for New Year's if that's already your tradition. It's only a few weeks later and it will just as special.

  • Go for it, since you can't go twice. We got married in March and didn't HM until July/Aug. No problems with a delayed HM

  • I'd combine them too! Our honeymoon will be a few weeks before my 30th birthday, so we're considering it our honeymoon/celebrating my birthday a little early!
  • Ya I agree with pps, you can go on your honeymoon when you're really able to, no need to break the bank for that! A mini vacation of birthday moon as you call it sounds great though :)

  • I think it sounds like a good idea, as long as you don't mind delaying. Especially if you can make the trip a little longer by combining.
