Pnina Tornai Fall 2015 Wedding Dresses Are Sultry and Bold

FTFY - Slutty and heinous! Look Ma, no underpants! (ok 3rd one's not awful, but it's all one image)

Always daring and eye-catching, Pnina Tornai‘s latest collection of wedding dresses doesn’t disappoint. This season, the designer was inspired by butterflies and the intricate patterns on their wings. Ornate embroidery, symmetrical patterns and bold, transparent panels give each design a seductive edge. Many of the pieces were styled with detachable elements, like trains and skirts, to add extra volume and turn up the drama. These dresses are definitely for the bride who wants to stand out and show off. Models accessorized with light, white butterfly pieces, and wore a clean, natural, yet glamorous makeup look with a burnt red lip. See every dress from the fall 2015 collection below.

  • My mind cannot handle the ridiculousness of these dresses! Why do you need a handle on your dress? To keep your FI literally attached to you all day?
  • These must be intended for AFTER the wedding! Yikes!

  • I just don't understand these dresses.  If you want to wear lingerie for your new husband, slip into it when everyone else goes home...

  • The last one would be ok if it didn't have the handle.  I think the pattern is pretty, and the overall shape.  Again NO to the freaking handle.

  • They remind me of something a Vegas show girl would wear, they do not remind me of something a bride wears.

  • I'll take one of each! JK. The thing is, some people will really wear these to their weddings! I don't get it.

  • Why on Earth do people pay so much money for those things?! I mean, could I just cut up some old nighties and sell them as Pnina-esque for absurd prices??
    Get thee to Etsy!

These dresses are godawful, though, for real.
  • These are breathtaking.
  • I actually love the top right one, if the bodice was not see through.

The others.. I guess if you're really into avant garde? They're certainly interesting to look at.

I actually love the textile pattern on the last one, I just wish it was on a different dress.

  • Wouldn't it be hilarious if there were designers doing the same sehxified things for the gentlemen?

I want to know what that would look like (or, maybe I don't...)

Then happy I, that love and am beloved

  • I'm pretty sure the middle one in the first photo costs about $48 000.  What a steal!!

  • Oh, man, I cannot wait to see the princesses on SYTTD want to try these on.

I like the middle one in the first trio. It reminds me of old fashioned lingerie.

ETA: Hope this doesn't make me sound too strange but I can so imagine Cleopatra seducing Mark Antony in that dress.
  • What the fuuuuuuck. I think I have a spiderweb table runner with more coverage.

I hope you mean that in the Seinfeld sense.
So glad you got the reference!

I remember watching SYTTD in my early twenties and it was always all about "the Panina dresses." Like every girl wants a Panina dress, they'll sell a kidney to get one, it's the be all end all of dresses. I always thought they looked like a wedding dress that a stripper would wear. No offense to strippers.

ETA: I totally still watch SYTTD but back then I thought Panina must be some really important designer and I just didn't get it. These days I'm older and wiser, and I still don't get it.

  • I actually really like the last dress.  The butterfly handle?  No.

I really want to know what goes through Pnina's mind when she designs dresses.  Does she try to design the most hideous dresses in the world and then put the word couture in front knowing that will change her designs from hideous to ingenious?  Or does she get really drunk or pop some amazing drugs and start drawing away?

  • SOME of these dresses would be beautiful simply if they didn't have the see-through elements. White lining is our friend.

I appreciate the designer's creativity (considering I think most mass-affordable dresses are cookie-cutter), but never the lingerie-ish elements of her dresses.
