French Readings

I was wondering if anyone had some good places to find ceremony readings in French.  We are doing everything in English but would like the reading to be in French because we are both French and so are the majority of our families.  I'm trying to find something that is non-religious.  If anyone has some links or examples of what they used it would be awesome.

Re: French Readings

  • I'd do love poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, no doubt. He mostly wrote in German but has about 400 French ones as well and there are some lovely ones. http://m.poemhunter.com/rainer-maria-rilke/ I'll post some specific suggestions when I'm not on an iPhone I haven't downloaded the French keyboard on.

  • Albert Camus has some good stuff. If you can't find something from a French author, you could always find something you love and get the French translation.

  • I don't have any thoughts.  I just wanted to say that I love that you're doing this.  As the officiant for my sister's wedding, I announced them married in Portuguese before I announced them married in English.  The Portuguese speakers in the crowd wanted to clap because they knew it was done, but I hadn't completed it in English yet.  It was kinda awesome.  Even the people who only speak English thought it was cool that we incorporated that part of our culture into the wedding.
