Divorce almost final.....

After 31 years of marriage and 35 years of being with him, my divorce will be final in a week. It's bitter sweet but know I can focus on the next stage of my life with my fiancé. We have been separated for 2 1/2 years and he just filed in August.

Can I ask why you waited for him to file? I was in a miserable marriage as well and I couldn't take it anymore and filed myself. Ended up paying for it as well. Hell he didn't even show up for the actual proceeding.

That being said, glad you have somebody who makes you happy. Good luck with the next chapter.

@hellohkb‌ Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's hard spending that long with someone. You never think it will happen to you. We actually get along a lot better now than when we were together. Our kids are grown which helps. My daughter said that if we got back together that she would disown us. It's hard planning a wedding after all these years. Things have changed so much. Obviously I'm going to be an older bride this time. Still have 2 years to plan.

It's funny you mention you get along better now. My parents were married for 27 years, together for 33, when they got their divorce a few years ago. They get along better now and are in a much better place. I am also in the same place as your daughter.. I would be very upset if they got back together. My mom is engaged and I'm thrilled.

My son is 27 and married for 3 years. He said why get married again, it didn't work the first time! I told him it did work for 31 years!
