Cleaning Service for Women going through Chemo

This just popped on my facebook feed and while I thought it was a terrific idea I'd never heard of it so did a quick search on google and it is a REAL thing!  Awesome!!!

Cleaning for a Reason (Click)

Evidently they partner with home cleaning services to offer women going through chemo treatments up to 4 monthly home cleaning sessions.

Cancer stinks -but- from reading the boards it is pretty obvious that we all have or know friends and family that are fighting cancer so I wanted to get the word about this organization out.

Re: Cleaning Service for Women going through Chemo

  • Ah! They are in my area! I'm tempted to contact them to see if being recently post chemo will pass. I am tired and waiving the white flag on trying to keep up with things.

  • @Jells2dot0 - It can't hurt to call and you are so recently out of treatment I can't imagine that they wouldn't help.  Saying a prayer!

  • Thank you for sharing this.  I wish this had been around when my Mom was going through chemo.  Her two best friends are currently undergoing treatment so I forwarded this on to her to share.

  • Do they offer it to men too or is this because only women clean?

  • I only took a cursory tour through the website but I think I remember them saying somewhere they didn't currently have the resources to open the program to men at this time.

  • @ShellD13 I applied and had a doctor's note submitted and now I'm just waiting to hear back if one of their appoved companies can assist!

I admit I do feel a little bad about accepting help, as I know there are others who are much worse off than I am. However, I have landed myself in the hospital too many times in the last few months for pushing myself too hard. DH is also excited to see if they can help as it has been so hard for him to be apart from me during this. He gets mad when I pretend that I'm a normal person who can do normal things.

I had the same thought. I sure hope they reach out to men as well.

Don't feel this way.  You've been through a lot and you deserve it.  If they accept your application, it's because they have time to do it and they aren't taking away from someone else.

Thanks @JCBride2015. I have been riddled with Survivor's Guilt for awhile now. That, coupled with me just being stubborn, it's hard for me to admit that I was really, really sick and still have a long road ahead of me. I got winded this morning just chasing my cat out from under a chair!

  • When you're feeling more up to it, @Jells2dot0‌, maybe donate to them so they can do for someone else. What an awesome program.

Agreed! I have been making donations to those who have helped me along the way, including trying to donate my leftover medical supplies and making a contribution to the Mayo Clinic!
