Chinese and Wine

FI is working overtime AND at night this weekend, so I have the house to myself.  Chinese and Wine were one of my comforting "single habits" when I lived alone, and after the week I have had, its VERY much needed.  Does anyone have any "single habits" they find themselves doing when home alone w/o FI/Husband?

Re: Chinese and Wine

  • Aw yeah, girl. Veggie Lo Mein and Merlot is a time-honored tradition in my house also.

I take really, really long bubble baths and watch TV / fill-in-the-blanks sports game on my laptop. While drinking above mentioned merlot, typically. I still do this, because FI thinks it's adorable, apparently. And he refills my glass!
  • Mmmmm Chinese sounds good! I think my friend wants to get it for lunch tomorrow when she comes to town though. I can't think of any at the moment... My SO works nights all the time, so it's normal to me! I will say I try to keep my good snacks away from him, because he demolishes them. So if I'm going to open a new pack of Oreos, it will be when he is at work, and they will stay in my office!

  • FI is up north shutting down the cabin for the winter, so I'm on the couch with the dog, a six pack, horror movies on netflix, and a giant vat of man-n-cheese.

  • FI works rotating night shifts so I am by myself every now and again. I do most of my video game and real housewives marathons, chinese-food eating, and caffeine-fueled art ragers while he's gone.

  • Yes! I wait for FH to go to sleep (he goes to bed early on weekdays and I'm the ultimate night owl) and make myself some ramen and watch New Girl or Gilmore Girls. Top ramen is one of those things I'm embarrassed to admit I like.

  • H and I are long distance. I live with a roommate from grad school. I feel like a college kid again. In general though, I think I read more since I talk to H less. I do wine more often than beer when I'm not with him too.

Oh and I sprawl on the couch in bliss since I don't have to share with him.

I have a roommate too, so it's not like I'm really alone!

  • FI does a lot of out of town work, so I have this feeling a lot.  My favorite thing is watching girly shows that he hates (currently it's Gilmore Girls) and knotting.  I also eat like crap when he's gone.  When he's here, I cook good dinners every night, but when I'm alone, there's a lot more frozen ravioli with a jar a marinara type dinners.

  • Up until last December, FI had spent a year traveling for work every week (leave Monday come home Friday), so I had a lot of time to indulge my single habits. That is, watching whatever I want on TV, drinking wine, wasting time on the interwebz, and spending way too much time in the bathroom tweezing my eyebrows. Then he got laid off, and he is pretty much home if I am home.

This weekend he is gone for his bachelor party. I'm currently watching Sex & the City and about to open a bottle of wine. Happy Friday!
  • DH is out tonight, so I'm watching TV with my cross stitch and a bottle of wine. No glass, just the bottle.

  • Even though I'm married, I pretty much live on my own. It's when DH is around that I adopt new habits. I tend to eat later, go to bed earlier, and watch TV instead of Netflix.

Sex and the City is my jam.  I'm starting to really enjoy scandal though... Late to the party I know but man it's good!

I feel lazy because I own SATC on DVD, yet I end up watching it on TV all the time. I haven't tried Scandal yet, but I might have to try it this weekend!

Me too girl, me too.  I own all six seasons and both movies, yet when it's on TV the world stops for a while.  I definitely recommend Scandal!

  • I looove SATC.  That was the first show I re-watched when FI started working oot.  I'm already almost ready to watch it again!

I'm going to go ahead and sound super cliche, but there just aren't shows like Sex and the City on TV anymore... I can't think of one show in the last 5 years that even compares. Ok, I'm off my diehard fan stand now.

  • When dh isn't home I give myself a manicure and watch horror films.
  • I drink soda or wine, internet binge, watch  SYTTD, HGTV, and certain anime.

Sometimes cleaning gets done. Not usually.

    Anniversary
  • me and my girls have wine and egg roll nights pretty religiously.
  • Chinese is totally my "single girl" meal too! How funny! I thought it was a unique-to-me comfort food. Yay I'm not a freak!
  • I get Moe's nachos and eat every bit of it (because what wedding diet?) while watching something either uber-girly like bridezillas or watching ghost/supernatural shows because FI hates them lol. If I'm feeling REALLY crazy, I bust out the old Sims games and plan destruction on the poor people of Pleasantville or whatever the main neighborhood is haha.
    Anniversary

  • DH works late Thursdays so I have a grilled cheese sandwich with chips for dinner and watch Grey's Anatomy. No booze because I have to pick him up from work after Grey's but I will get a pop or a chocolate bar.

    Anniversary
  • Because of this thread, DH and I got Chinese takeout for lunch today.
