I am thinking about place card/picture frames, coasters, etc. Anyone have any input on these or others? I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars on favors that people will most likely leave or throw away.
IMO best bet, as PP said something edible. If you are going to do something non-edible I would say not to put your name or date on it. To me seeing something with the bride and grooms name and date is cute for at the wedding but I don't want to take it home with me. If you are doing a photo booth, picture frame would be cute.
PPs are correct. If, as you said, you don't want people to throw away the favors, do something edible that they can eat during the reception or soon after. People will enjoy an additional edible treat far more than any item with your names/wedding date etched on it.

We're thinking about using photoframes for the placecards. But since that means only one per couple, we will also do some small, inexpensive edible favor for each guest. Our wedding is at the beach and I found cute beach-themed frames online. I think it was in the knot giftshop, actually!
I agree about not spending money on stuff people will toss. My cousin gave away little personalized bottles of wine at her wedding last year - it was perfect!

Or else use the frames/coasters as their escort cards as well?
