Packing help.

So, H and I are heading out to the Bay area for a wedding, and then to the Cayman's. I have no idea what to pack. I mean, I know what I'm wearing to the wedding, and I know what I'm wearing to travel, and I know I'm packing swimsuits, but otherwise. I'm lost.

Help please?

Now I usually just throw random clothing haphazardly from my closet into my bag 15 minutes before I leave, but here let me give you packing advice.

Bring some clothes to cover swimsuits. Like little beach dresses or shorts and a cute top. Bring a set of warm clothes, like jeans and a sweater. Just in case. Bring something to wear to sleep, and maybe some clothes that are good for walking in if you plan on going around town or hiking. I am not comfortable at all walking all day in a bikini with beach clothes on top. Have a fairly dress outfit or several dressy outfits if you plan on eating at fancy places.

You can fit so many things in your suitcase because warm weather clothes are so teeny!

  • Yup everything PP said above. I usually pack a bunch of beach coverups in case we eat somewhere directly from the beach. A bunch of dresses/skirts. And a couple of pair of shorts. I also pack a pair of sweats with a long sleeve shirt, just in case. And some comfy pj's. I also pack some lingerie, for fun ;)

And don't forget the suntan lotion! Lots of it.

  • Layers that can mix and match - cardigan or hoodie that can go over a few different things if it's chilly in the evening, a nice big, light scarf that you can use as a wrap over a dress or a blanket on the plane (cover your mouth and nose with it to block the germs!). More shoes than you think you'll need in case your feet start to hurt in one pair or you get a blister in a specific spot. Sunscreen (and aloe lotion if you're like me and inevitably get burned anyway).

  • Like larrygaga said some little cotton beach shorts. I forgot mine for the honeymoon and I was so annoyed. Every time I wanted to go to the snack bar by the pool I had to put on a sun dress or wrap my towel around me and it would have been much easier if I had my darn shorts.

And like lolo said, extra shoes. My flip flops gave me blisters (don't know why, I've worn them lots of times) and I ended up walking around barefoot the entire time. I would carry them on the walk across the resort to get to the restuarant then just slip them on to go inside for dinner. It sucked.

Things like sunblock I honestly don't bother to pack. It forces you to check a bag and could potentially bust open. We bought 3 bottle at the resort and it was still cheaper than checked bag fees would have been. They were really only marked up about $3 from home.

THIS! I am the worst packer, and always forget things. To compensate, I usually add more stuff to my suitcase when I think I'm done. Then, when I get somewhere, I have all this random stuff I don't need, and I'm still missing something important, like non-dress shoes or something.
  • Make sure to pack daytime and nighttime clothes. I ridiculously over packed for the HM, because I could and I had a gigantic suitcase- but I packed daytime clothes (Shorts, tank tops, cover ups, flip flops) and then clothes for dinner/the evening (dresses, nicer sandals, heels, etc).
