Wedding for 250, HELP!

Ok ladies.. I think I may have seriously under budgeted for this, so I need some help.

My fiance and I are thinking we will have about 250 people coming to our wedding, we are hoping to stay around the Columbus/Polaris area and set a budget for $7000-$9000. Am I crazy?! All of the food we have found is $27-90 a plate, we wanted to provide our own alcohol and I think we found out DJ/Photo booth for like $1K. Do I need to seriously rethink my budget since we have so many people? We are also having a hard time finding a venue to fit the amount of people we have. I am pretty overwhelmed right now and honestly don't know where to look into and am really hoping that someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!

I would rethink your guest list if you don't want to add to your budget. If you have 250 people and you selected the cheapest option for food ($27/plate), it would be $6,750 which is almost your entire budget.

You could also select having a later cocktail reception, brunch reception, etc. to help cut costs.

I won't say it CAN'T be done, but it will be difficult.

We spent $14k on a lunch wedding for 80 and that was in the off-season.  That includes the wedding bands but NOT the honeymoon.

I think if you don't increase the budget you need to look at a cake and punch or dessert reception a non-mealtime or cut the guest list.

I would definitely re-think your budget.  We spent almost $24k on our wedding (honeymoon included) for 100 guests!
250 is a LOT of people, I would re-look at your guest list and make sure you feel like everyone on your list is essential! My husband and I only invited family, and the friends that we would call up on a Friday night to hang out with.  It was hard, but we cut the list to 120 and ended up with about 105 people.
Plus, there's no reason to go into debt!  I planned my complete dream wedding, and i made it fit into my budget by cutting head count!  At the end of the day, 100 people was perfect and allowed us to be sure and spend a few moments talking to every guest--and even then it felt like a whirlwind!
I can't imagine trying to meet and greet with 250, it really could be overwhelming!

What is most important to you? You can definitely plan a wedding on that budget, but it might not be your standard plated meal, dj, dancing, 6 hour reception.

You can get married at a nonmeal time, like 2:30 or 8:30, and serve drinks and dessert. You can have it caterer by shoelaces catering, hoggys or city bbq at a venue you can pick your caterer and bring in your own alcohol. You could have a brunch or luncheon wedding reception.

Or you could cut the guest list. Let me find my bring your own alcohol list and I'll post it...that would be a good starting point for you. Ask about their cater list our our you can get your own.
