How to thank friends for hosting wedding on their property????

My friend (who is also a bridesmaid) and her parents have given my fiance and I a very generous gift. They have invited us to have our wedding ceremony and reception on their property. It is on the water in Florida, with a beautiful view. We are so excited. We have to rent tents, generators, and trailer restrooms. While they have expressed many times that their are very happy to host our wedding, I want to show them how very thankful and grateful we are for their gift. I realize that there may be some inconveniences that they may have, and I want them to know that those inconveniences have not gone unrecognized by us (i.e. cleaning up lawn pre and post wedding, alerting neighbors of the event, and liability). Any suggestions???? Please help!! Wedding is in two weeks, 11.15.2014. Thanks!

  • If it is in your budget you could get them a night at a nice bed and breakfast and a lovely thank you card :)

What's your budget for a gift?  My go-to thank you gift when my friend lends me his vacation condo is a restaurant gift certificate (but for either a nice restaurant I know they love but maybe don't get the chance to go to that often or a well-reviewed fine dining restaurant).  And then I price out the most expensive entree x 2 plus the cost of and app, dessert, and a nice bottle of wine and make sure my certificate will cover at least that.
  • I second the B&B or favorite restaurant gift card. I've done both (not for a wedding but vacation house) and they've gone over really well. Whatever your budget, just make It heartfelt and personal to the friends and you're all set.
  • Do you know them well enough to know their hobbies or interests? I like the above suggestions but if you can get even more personal you may be able to come up with something that'll knock their socks off. Floridians..... Do they fish, golf, boat - there's tons of gifts attributed to those things.

Our good friend who is a chef helped us smoke a 150 pound pig for our AHR. Okay, he more than helped, he knocked it out of the park for us. So we had his wife sneak his good knives out of the house to us and we took them to get professionally sharpened. It was gift that was personal, he really appreciated it and wasn't crazy expensive.

You may need to do a little investigating to find out what they like but once you do lots of opportunities will present themselves for great gifts!
