When to Send Thank You Cards

We received a few gifts prior to our wedding, and I sent thank you cards as soon as we received them.  Now, we are about a week away from our big day.  I received a card with money today... at this point should I wait until we have our thank you cards printed from the wedding to send the thank you?  We are going to have thank you cards printed with photos from our wedding day.  We should have them done about 1 month after the wedding.  Up until now I have been sending thank you cards immediately, but obviously everyone who attends the wedding will receive their card about 1 month after the event.  So.... for the cards that I receive from now until then, should I send them our thank you cards with photos, rather than just a plain thank you card?

Re: When to Send Thank You Cards

  • No one cares what your thank you card looks like. What they do care about is receiving them in a timely manner.

I'd continue to send thank yous as you receive gifts.

  • I would keep sending them right away. If someone went out of their way to get a gift to you BEFORE the wedding, they shouldn't have to wait until a month after to be thanked. Plus you'll have one fewer to do later... you will have to get those out super speed once you finally get those cards since they'll already be a month out.

  • From someone who has received many thank you cards over the years.  That thank you that is written in the card trumps what the card looks like.  Get some simple, plain thank you cards from Hallmark and send them ASAP.

Oh and keep in mind that very rarely do people keep a thank you card and that it will just end up in the trash soon after it is received.  So just use some nice cards from the store because no one really cares about a wedding photo collage thank you card.
