Freaking out! DJ won't call me!

So thanks to The Knot I realize I'm 18 days away from my wedding and I can't get ahold of the DJ. I've called and emailed him and now he's not responding.

We were playing phone tag to tie down some of the loose ends. We had this wedding outline he asked us to complete and call him back with the answers and such. So I did, but he didn't answer and then didn't return my call. That was two weeks ago or so.

So late last week I called him, still no answer. So I told him I'd be sending him an email and also included which address I was sending it to (incase he has multiples). In the email I asked that he reply just so I know he go it. Nothing.. So yesterday i called him again saying "Hey! You never responded to me!" And still NOTHING! I am about to lose my mind. I don't know if I should look for another DJ or what. We do have a contract with this guy though. So he has to show, right? RIGHT?!

AHH!! I hate wedding planning! It's way too stressful!

Re: Freaking out! DJ won't call me!

  • Just because you have a contract does not mean that he will show.  But since you do have a contract you can sue his butt off if he is a no-show.

But I would listen to Linger and definitely find a back-up while still trying to contact your current DJ.

[QUOTE]You have 18 days left and haven't heard from your DJ despite repeated attempts to contact him for two weeks?  Yeah, I'd start searching for a backup just in case.

Does he have a specific office location? I know most don't but if you have an address, I would even attempt going there, but thats just me. Geesh - so sorry you are going through this. I would definitely look for a back-up and explain your situation.

  • You're not alone. I've been trying to reach my DJ to schedule our final meeting for over a week now. I did get ahold of him on Friday and he said I should call him Monday so we could choose a time. I called him Monday morning, left a message, and he never responded to my voicemail or the e-mail I sent last week.

It's really stressful. Due to recommendations of friends and the long amount of time my DJ's been in business, I trust him to show up the day of the wedding, but I'm frustrated that we haven't gone over any of the final details.

If you think you can trust your DJ and don't think he's going to take your money and run, I'd give it a couple more days then try to reach him again. If you truly don't think you can trust him (he's new to the business, has gotten bad reviews, etc.), I'd contact someone else for back-up and try to get your money back from this guy.

  • I would call him right now and leave a message that you are very worried since your repeated attempts to reach him have gone unanswered and you need to know if you should find someone else.  And then immediately look for another DJ.

Sometimes the sound of "we aren't going to pay you" gets them to call back....  but, I would honestly find someone else anyway.

<div>Not exactly.  You'd probably just get your deposit back, or maybe a little extra if you have to pay someone else a premium last minute.</div><div>
</div><div>OP, I would start looking for someone else.  I would send an email and leave a voicemail, and a snail mail letter outlining your attempts to reach him and his failure to respond, and that if you haven't gotten a call by noon on Thursday, you are going to go with someone else and since he is in breach, you will expect your deposit returned.  </div>
