This is probably pretty pointless, but FI made me LOL (literally) last night when we were discussing wedding plans. Out of the blue he says, "Hey we should get a sign for the ceremony/reception!!" -(cue me cringing)- "And it should say: 'Blah blah blah, cute wedding sign telling you where to sit'." 

I died. I'm happy that he shares the same views as me (and 80% of us on TK) about cutesy wedding signs taken directly from Pinterest.

    Ha! The other day FI and I were discussing processional songs, and we picked a song we'd like to use for the whole processional, without switching to a different song when I come down. He was a bit concerned though, and asked, "Doesn't the song change indicate that people are supposed to stand up and look at you? How will they know you're coming if the song doesn't change?"

    I told him, "Well first, I think they'll figure it out, plus if they don't ogle me I'm not going to be concerned. But also I think usually the flower girl is the sign that the bride is coming next. Some people actually put a sign on the flower girl's basket or have her hold one that says like, 'Here comes the bride!' or something."

    He made a sour face at that. I was relieved.

    ETA: His reaction when I told him about honey funds was a very skeptical, "Is that something you'd want to do...?"

    I was all for a cute sign saying, "Choose a seat, not a side" because FI and I have so manymutual friends and community friends. 

    When I mentioned it to FMIL she was like, "Uhm, that sounds a little silly." I come here and realized she was right.

    I was joking with DH that we aren't REALLY married since we didn't have a cash bar, dollar dance, money tree, 4 hour gap, and honeyfund - we should totally have a do-over and incorporate all those things since we have very special circumstances. He just looked at me and said, "Fuck no." Good man, that husband of mine.

    I admit, I once thought signs were awesome too. But I have a tendency to not trust that people can figure things out on their own and be mature adults. It may have something to do with the fact that I both supervise and teach college students and despite the fact that they're adults, common sense is often still not developed yet. But once I started coming here, I was ruined for signs.

    My FMIL is the exact opposite. She's all "So many people are doing this now!" "This is such a cute sign! It would look perfect!" I smile and say, "That is cute, but I don't know we need it. People can figure out what to do and what's happening without a sign telling them."

    However... I will confess that I maybe kinda want a sign at the bar that says, "You be my glass of wine, I'll be your shot of whiskey." 
    Because FI drinks Jack Daniels all the time and if nothing else is in my fridge, a bottle box of wine is. Yes, I saw it on Pinterest. I'm ashamed.

    ETA: I don't mean FI drinks all the time, as in he's an alcoholic. I mean if he's going to drink, like having a drink on the weekends, that's what he goes for. Just fyi.

    Common sense is definitely not common. I work with senior citizens and even they can't do things without an insane amount of hand holding. Working for local government ruins my optimism on humans

    I swear I saw the "wine/whiskey" sign somewhere yesterday and almost took a picture of it to post here. Must have been in one of the bazillion catalogs that have begun appearing in my mailbox lately. I must admit I'm glad to see that I'm no longer asked which side I want to sit on at a ceremony. I'm friends with the couple, not just a side.

    I'm really surprised my mom hasn't suggested any Pinterest-ey type stuff to me, because she is the Pinterest QUEEN.  She has, no exaggeration, 15k followers, and over 10k pins on 96 boards.

    Out. of. control. Exmples: She has a board dedicated to the "Amish way of life", I guess because she likes visiting Amish Country, and another called Bunny Art

    Oh no... I just looked and she has a board dedicated to burlap with 130 pins. 

    She needs an intervention! ha!

    I was so happy when fi knew that a 5 hour gap is awful and his suggestion that we get wasted during that time was amazing.

    It's a great song, so I think it's cute to pull those lyrics and put it in a sign. But, it IS overly cute and pointless.

    When we were discussing the wedding DH said "Remember when we went to [cousin] wedding and we had to stand around for 3 hours after the ceremony waiting for the reception to start? Can we not do that? It's so boring"
