I'm getting married March 21st.  I know I should send the invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding, and our vendors need the final headcount 2 weeks before.

I plan on sending invites out between January 31st and February 7th (6-7 weeks out).  Is it okay to use February 28th as the reply by date for the RSVPs?  I want to have a week between RSVPs coming in and final headcounts being due so I have time to make calls confirming attendance if need be.  What do you think?

  • I think that is fine.  You could even push it so that you have 5 days between the RSVP deadline and when you need to put in the final headcount if you wish, but what you are planning is good.

  • Yeah that is exactly what you should do. I am getting married December 6 and my invitation designer told me to set the RSVP date at November 8, which gives me a couple extra weeks to get all the RSVPs in before final head count due. You definitely want the peace of mind of the buffer! Our RSVP deadline is this Saturday and we still are waiting on about 20 RSVPs. So we'll be starting to call people next week!
  • I would not ask for RSVPs any sooner than 4 weeks before the wedding. That's really the max. You should shoot for 3 weeks - giving you a week to follow up.
