RSVP name help!

Hello ladies!

I am getting married on May 23, 2015 and have a girlfriend who will be getting married on June 27, 2015. Her RSVP's will be sent out before my wedding and am wondering how I should respond to her RSVP. Do I use my maiden name or my married name? Not sure the etiquette on RSVP's and am looking for some guidance. I would like to respond to her RSVP with my married name, but will not actually be married when I respond. Don't know if that's okay or not...

Thanks so much!

Re: RSVP name help!

  • How about "the future mr & mrs married name"
  • I would use your maiden name.
  • Your maiden name.  You won't be married so to respond like you are is just weird.  Why do you want to respond with your future married name anyways?

    I like this.
  • Assuming your reason is that you want your married name on the escort card since you will be married when you attend her wedding, I would use your married name or "the future married name" as suggested. I'm going to have the same issue next June. I'm getting married June 7, my friend is getting married June 20. When I reply to her invitation I technically won't be married yet but am so excited to see Mr. & Mrs. mynewmarriedname on an escort card for the first time that I definitely want her to remember that.
  • I would go with maiden name, since that will still be your name at the time.  Your friend will know you are married before her wedding when it comes time for escourt cards, and if she lists you with your maiden name is it really a big deal?  I know you are prob excited to start using the new name, but believe me you'll have pleanty of chances to use/see it.

off topic but your wedding will be my 1 year anniversary :)

  • Normally I would say maiden name since that's the name you are now, but you will be your married name when you attend her wedding. If that's how you want to be addressed on your escort card, use your married name.

If you want to be super technical, mail it the day before your wedding so by the time she receives it, it'll be correct.

Do this! There is no reason she would need your RSVP before your wedding, so you'll be good. But you really shouldn't have to worry about this now. The wedding is still far off.

I would have no problem if you used your married name. That is the name you will be when you attend her wedding.
