KUI Anyone?

I'm enjoying a glass of wine and my laptop tonight! Totally random, I know, but my laptop basically just crashed a couple of years ago and H finally got around to installing Ubuntu on it so now I don't have to use my cellphone anymore! I'm so excited!

Also, tomorrow we're supposed to expect a delivery from Best Buy between 7 am and 9 am (gross) buutttt it's a gift from H's mom and dad (not gross/totally awesome). We think it might be a chest freezer...which means we can buy ALL THE THINGS at Costco!! Woo!!!

How is everyone else?

Re: KUI Anyone?

  • I can't believe you went without a laptop for years! I hate trying to knot on my phone. For some reason it makes me login every single time, it never keeps me logged in so I mostly just lurk if I'm on my phone.

A 7 - 9 am delivery window is kind of crappy but at least you won't have to wait all day to get your awesome present!

Tonight I'm working on lesson plans for next semester, but have no alcohol which is unfortunate because that would make planning lessons a lot more fun!

  • @LaPeanut1018‌ I hope it's a freezer! Omg that's an awesome gift. <-- Sign that I'm getting old? I think so.

I'm sleepy. I worked last night, took a nap, babysat for a few hours, and now I'm at work covering for a co-worker. Luckily it's pretty chill in here, but they have blocked TK and all other fun things on the computers, so I am on my phone. :(

I'm getting my hair did tomorrow. Still not entirely sure what I'm going to do color wise, but I was thinking maybe some auburn or reddish highlights. Ideas? How do you even choose?
  • @bethsmiles‌ You should remedy that. Wine for everyone (we have tons of leftover wine from the rehearsal dinner)!

The power randomly just blacked out at our house.

@CLoGreenEyes‌ Hmmm that's tough. Since I'm old and boring I'd probably go auburn, plus I've heard that red fades quickly. I'm kind of excited for this potential freezer but again I'm old sooo I guess I should be lol! H and I bought a fancy leaf blower this weekend with some of our wedding gift money and I also got ridiculously excited about that.

  • @CLoGreenEyes - I love doing red, but it fades really fast (like @LaPeanut1018 said) so I always feel like I wasted my money. I'm always really excited about it while it lasts though!

  • Ooh, good to know. I'm kind of a newb to getting pretty hair, lol, so I don't know these things. Maybe I will just go back to my natural color then. I love changing it up, but it's a bit expensive for it to just fade so fast. Ugh I want to get on Pinterest and find ideas but I haaate doing this on my phone.
  • @CLoGreenEyes I really love the highlights my stylist does. She does a blend for me of light and dark blonde and I think a tiny bit of strawberry blonde in there to add some tone. Sometimes the best thing to try is to get your stylist's recommendation. They look at hair all day and hopefully see a lot of what works and what doesn't work.

  • I have no wine in my house, but I will survive.

I would also advise against going too red. My sister started going red a while ago and it looks awesome for the first week…but then it starts fading and isn't nearly as nice. I'm rather poor these days so I've been keeping my hair dark, which is easy enough to do from a box. I was super blonde for a long time and I miss it sometimes but damn it's a lot of maintenance!

I'm currently watching Bruce Almighty. I should be vacuuming buuuuuut no.

Any ideas on something delicious to grill this weekend? We're hosting my mom while my dad is out of town (she hasn't been feeling well and doesn't want to be alone) and we'll probably go out for dinner Friday night but I want to stay in for dinner on Saturday. It's supposed to be sunny and in the high 50s low 60s all weekend so perfect outdoor cooking weather!

ETA: We have a brand new Whole Foods too sooo maybe even fancy grilling ideas?

  • @lmcooper86 You and @bethsmiles need to work on this no wine situation stat! @CLoGreenEyes has an excuse since she's at work. H and I also have a box of mixed hard liquor in our basement (again RD leftovers) and I don't drink hard liquor really so it's going to take a loonnnggg time to go through. Guess I should host some parties.

  • @LaPeanut1018‌ I do love and trust my stylist, so perhaps that's what I'll do. Can't waste anymore time thinking about this relatively unimportant issue, lol. My childhood self would be so disappointed that this is the kind of stuff I spend my time thinking about.

I'm trying to think of fun stuff to talk and gossip about, but the lack of alcohol isn't helping, lol, and caffeine can only take me so far.

@lmcooper86, I love Bruce Almighty, much more do than vacuuming. You're making a wise life choice right now.
  • I second all the recommendations for auburn.  I go a dark auburn.  (My natural hair color is...brownish?  I think?  It's been a long time since I've seen it.)  I like it because it doesn't fade as fast as a pure red, but it still makes me feel sassy (which is why I dye my hair red).

I'm not KUI either, because I have no wine, but...I'm going to the big wholesale liquor store in OKC tomorrow and will buy ALL THE WINES.
  • @LaPeanut1018 - I'm a big fan of grilled chicken and vegetables (zucchini is my favorite!) I usually just use a store-bought marinade for the chicken, there's a chipotle one that I really love.

Why am I the only one with booze?? :(

  • @bethsmiles I love grilled chicken too. I'm so worried about it coming out dry though! Does the marinade help it stay all moist and delicious on the inside?

  • @LaPeanut1018 - It helps a lot! Every time I've used any marinade the chicken has been perfect and I'm not definetly not a master griller.

  • @LaPeanut1018 - Because you're the only one who had a RD recently! I hope we'll have leftover wine from ours…we got a few bottles of wine at our engagement party back in the summer, but FMIL is storing the gifts we got and the wine got hidden away with those! I need to go hunting for those…

@CLoGreenEyes - I haven't watched this movie in ages, and I figure I'll have plenty of time to vacuum and clean this weekend. Also, my kitty needed snuggles :)

@lmcooper86‌ Ugh that's annoying! Why won't your FMIL let you have your gifts? We pretty much opened everything right away (and in a few cases started using it too) right up until about 2 weeks before the wedding when I just started running out of time.

  • I don't think it's so much that she won't let us as she put everything away and now I don't know where the wine is lol I don't have room or need for any of the other gifts at the moment, and I would rather just move everything into whatever house we end up buying…just seems like it would be easier…but I would really like that wine!

Totally late to this party, but @CLoGreenEyes if you still haven't decided on a color:  I had wanted to go back to my natural dark blonde, but the color was off so I went with a Chestnut brown lowlight (its a reddish brown, but since the red fades fast it's a nice light brown) and looks awesome (especially for fall/winter)! So if you're leaning towards a reddish color I definitely suggest Chestnut!

  • I know this is yesterday's post (actually technically 2 days since it's the middle of the freaking night and I can't sleep)...but this is my first time KUI, so I thought I'd bump it.

I had wine and cupcakes for dinner.  Diet what?!
