Buffet restaurant reception

For those of you thinking about planning a reception dinner in the dining room of a buffet, be aware that they will keep changing things on you.

We emailed Bachannal and Wicked Spoon for quotes.  We received quotes from both.  Bachannal later told us when we emailed to confirm details that they were not accepting large group reservations for our date.

Ok, fine, we will go with Wicked Spoon.  I received 2 different quotes from 2 different people.  We went with the lower obviously.  Got the contract draft and noticed that it said there will be a $500 additional charge if you go over the allotted time.  We assumed this was meant for if you reserved a private room for a certain amount of time since we were not quoted any limits, but we checked anyway.  We were told reservations are made for 2 hours.  If we want 3 hours, it will be an additional charge per person.  While I understand the policy, it would have been very nice if they would have told us this up front when we received the original quote.

Re: Buffet restaurant reception

  • That's crazy! If you have a small enough group to eat in the dining room, you should be able to just like anyone else. So annoyed by how people find ways to rip off those planning weddings!

  • Yea, we even double checked the original email from her, and nothing on the time limit.  Like I said, I do understand the policy, but tell us about it.  I think with a group of 18 people or so, 2 hours will be cutting it awfully close.  No time limits had been discussed at any point in our email conversations.
  • This is what wicked spoon kept doing to us, so finally we moved on from them for this reason

  • We don't really know where to move on to though.  We wanted a buffet because we have people with different tastes, and Wicked Spoon and Bachannal are the best buffets in our opinions.
  • That sucks. As locals we strayed from a lot of strip properties for our wedding because of people's experiences like these. Have you considered other buffets? Wynn Buffet is great, as is the buffet at Aria.

  • We aren't as big of a fan of the aria buffet and the Wynn seems too far away from aria.
  • Where did you end up going @Rosebubbly?
  • If I was still hell bent on a buffet like originally planned, I wouldn't have moved on from wicked spoon. I would've stalked those girls there till we made it work. Lol!
I only moved on when I latched on to the in suite idea and now were at stardust suite.

  • We had the added issue at wicked spoon of being over a holiday weekend so the f&b minimum they wanted was higher than was physically possible to consume for our number of guests. Once they threw out nonsensical math we realized they didn't want our business anyway.
I'm sure most of y'all don't have that added layer of confusion...hopefully

  • We will be during Christmas week, which was why Bacchanal wouldn't take us.  We have been emailing 2 of the people there, so hopefully one of them will get it right soon and we can be done.
  • damn aggie, thanks for the heads up.

But pardon the obvious...even with the BS wouldn't you be out more money with the $1400 cancellation fee?
  • We haven't signed a contract yet.
  • And I believe our cancellation fee would be 900 if we had signed.
  • smart, and it's $1400 on my contract O_O
  • Yep, just double checked mine - $940 for cancellation.
  • Apparently you can haggle with the price as I was just told "tell me what price you're thinking about and I can ask management."
  • What are you haggling?  The minimum or cancellation or...?  Moot point for me since I already signed the paper uuuugh.
  • The price per person.  For 2 hours it is $47, but they said if we stay longer than 2 hours, we get charged $500.  So we asked how much to stay for 3 hours and they said $60 pp.  Now we are haggling about the $60 pp charge.

We don't have a minimum since we are just in the dining room.
  • I hate to hear that there are so many issues for those trying to arrange events at Wicked Spoon because it is AWESOME. We went yesterday and I told H that if we had planned to host a group in Vegas (or ever do), this place would be high on the list of places to consider. (And I never even considered a buffet before!)
  • We ended up negotiating with them and settling on $50pp for the buffet for two and a half hours.  We ultimately decided to go consumption for alcohol because the beverage packages didn't make sense to us.  Each person would have to have 5-7 drinks to make it worth it, and we just didn't think people would do that in 2 and a half hours.

Just know that if you book with them, everything is negotiable, even if you are just making a reservation in the dining room.  Hopefully we will be squared away with a contract signed by Monday.

  • Yeah, in 2.5 hours I might have two drinks. Maybe three if I'm in a party mood.
  • Who is your contact at Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal?
  • I was talking to both Rose and Kelly.  They both quoted me different prices and different specifics on the private room.
