Wedding Woes

Soooooo.

I guess this is a poll of sorts.

Who has received the dreaded phone call after a mammogram? You know, the "We saw an abnormality and want you to come in for another mammogram and ultrasound." That one. Do they have to use that word, abnormality? How about we might have messed up and want to take it again. That works much better for me.

Plusalso, they couldn't get me in for 6 days. That's just wrong, yo.

I'm not wigging out because my sister got the same call last year and it was just a cyst, and another friend had the same thing, but you know I do feel more informed after going to the google this weekend.

So, my appointment is tomorrow and I decided to take the day off.

If it's good news then I'm treating myself to new boots.:)

Bad news and I take the day to process, but I know I'm fine.

So, I'll keep y'all posted.:)

Re: Soooooo.

  • I'll be praying for you.

I haven't had the mammogram call, but I had the abnormal pap and it does suck.

  • Ha. Flo, you just made me laugh. Thanks ladies.:)

  • T+P's.  I'll be hoping for nothing but the best possible outcome for you.
  • Good luck!  It's hard not to freak out, I know.

If the doc reading the test thought is was super serious, they'd have called you and gotten you in way sooner.  Trust, when we had emergent conditions, doc was on the phone himself saying, Make room now.
  • V, that's what I was thinking too. They would have pushed it if was code red.

One more great thing about being middle aged.:)

  • comeon comeone, big money...momma needs a new pair of boots!
  • I'll be praying for you.  I'm sure you will be going to get the new boots to celebrate!
  • I'm praying for your rack, NOLA. ~healthy boob vibes~

  • I'm praying as well.  I haven't ever received the re-do call, but my sister did last week.  Very Scary!  Here's hoping for new boots (which I read as boobs too!).

  • MNN, I hope your sister is doing well.

  • "Abnormality" or "anomaly"? Either way it's unsettling, but I'm with others who are thinking about family tendencies. (I'd still like to shoot the tech who said, "Wow. I've never seen THAT before." It was benign--necrotized fat, anyone?)
  • No they said abnormality in the call and follow up letter. I also got a call from my gyno because you have to list your doctor on your forms. So two calls and a letter. I think I know to go back, but I appreciate that they want you to have a follow up visit.

IP, that wasn't the best choice of words, yo.

  • Thanks, NOLA.  She has a biopsy Friday.  She has known density in her breast but because of the location, they aren't able to do an ultrasound to see if that is what it is.

  • She's going to be fine, MNN. Through all my reading this weekend; I read a lot about dense breast and how hard it is sometimes to see on mammograms. I'm sure that's all it is. Hang in there, and I'll say a prayer that her biopsy comes out perfectly normal on Friday.

  • Thanks, NOLA.

  • Try not to stress, my mom already warned me that the women in our family have "lumpy boobs" so I'll probably get a call eventually and I shouldn't freak.
  • Good luck Nola. Fingers crossed and lots of thoughts and prayers.
  • Wooohooooo!!!

Do we get to see a picture of the boots?

  • Girl, I was going to stop at the mall but I'm so tired from not sleeping well last night. I have to go this weekend. I need a nap.

MNN, your sister is going to get good news too.

  • YAY!

(Thanks, NOLA - will keep you posted)

  • YAY NOLA! Glad you got good news (and will eventually get new boots)!
  • <whew!!!>  Glad it was good news!!!!

  • Glad it worked out well for you, NOLA!  BTW, I also read it as new BOOBs, and snickered a little, I admit...
  • Very late to the post, but so happy your news was good NOLA.  :)
  • Several times, I have had to go back for more views, and even had a biopsy one year. It is par for the course. I have the dense, lumpy breasts too. And my mom, aunt, cousin, and great aunt all had breast cancer.

It is true, if the radiologist saw cancer on a mammogram, they would get you in right away, they wouldn't make you wait 6 days. Our "sue-happy" society is the reason the medical community errs on the side of caution, making us take additional tests that aren't necessary, just for due diligence.

  • Wonderful news, NOLA!! Enjoy your boots :)
