Jewelry / shoes help

I need help for both jewelry and shoe color for my BMs.

Here is the dress (color is grey ice) ->CLICKY

Question 1. What type of jewelry would go best? Earrings / necklace combo, or nix the necklace and do a bracelet?
If so any examples (its an August wedding and flowers will be sunflowers and lavender if that gives a hint of color coordination).

Question 2. What the heck color shoes go with the dress? The girls keep asking me and I told them I don't care so much but they want a color option - so any thoughts?

  • For shoe colors since they want specifics I would say either white, black, nude or metallic. I know black isn't a very summery color but you can find cute black sandals/heels very easily & those for sure can be worn again. I wouldn't be surprised if most if not all of your BM have black shoes that will work.

For jewelry, how much you do I think depends on how big the stuff is. I went with evening wear stuff & my girls all had earrings, necklaces & bracelets. If you want to go stuff that is more statement pieces and bigger, then I would probably limit it to necklace/bracelet or earrings/bracelet. But keep in mind that you're having an August wedding and if any of it is outside or without A/C big statement pieces might be a little uncomfortable if it's a hot day.

  • I like the model's silver shoes, I'd make it simple and tell them silver, in whatever style they feel comfortable in.

As for the jewelry, it's got detailed neckline, so I'd go simpler. I like your idea of a drop earring and a bracelet.

  • Silver shoes would look awesome! And because the dress is really visually interesting, simple jewelry would probably be best. I kinda like this set: http://www.charmingcharlie.com/jewelry/necklaces/suri-stone-drop-necklace-set-1.html#color=clear
  • I agree with PPs. Silver shoes. I think light blue or aqua shoes would look amazing with this too but those are a little harder to find and might not be worn again.

With this dress, I'd either do some simple stud earrings and a simple necklace that matches, or drop earrings and a fancy bracelet.

  • I really hate silver shoes and would never buy them, but PP's are right, they would go well with the dress.  I would give them a choice between silver and nude - I do have like 4 pairs of nude heels/sandals.

I would let them pick their own jewelry!!  I know some ppl love necklaces, but I don't wear them often so would probably go with a cocktail ring (or 3) and some big statement earrings.

Its really funny you say this because I am the same way, however, I do have a pair that I bought to be a BM in a wedding a few years ago. Most of my BMs have been in several weddings over the years, so I bet they have something lying around (I am a bit against having to buy a pair of shoes to wear only once - which is why I thought the color idea was the best route to take).

Drop earrings and a bracelet might be the way to  go in the end. I agree with PPs who say the detailing on the neckline is really intricate.

My whole doubt with the bracelet would be that it is too busy when combined with the flowers, but maybe I am over thinking this, in the end they will be holding flowers for all in about 15 minutes.

are you buying jewelry for them?  Or telling them what to wear?  If you're not purchasing then tell them to wear whatever they are comfortable with and you shouldn't really get a say in that.

Ah sorry, I did not mention that.

I am purchasing the jewelry for them (I decided to purchase 2 pieces - of which definitely will include earrings - they all have their ears pierced so its NBD and then either a necklace or a bracelet).

I am not purchasing the shoes (which is why I don't really care at all what goes on their feet, especially because it is a long dress so no one will really even see them, but they wanted the direction color wise, so there is that).

    ETA. details and grammar

  • Perfect :)  I think matching earrings would be your best bet (as long as you know none of them have metal allergies....etc).  I think matching necklaces looks a little TOO matchy, but matching/similar earrings just sort of tie everything together without looking clone-ish.
  • What is everyone's thoughts on something like this:

which would be a statement-type piece: CLICKY

or something a bit simpler : CLICKY

My budget for both pieces of the jewerly would be ~$50 per girl.
I just don't want it to look like cheap costume jewelry.

  • I really love them both and I think you could go with either one.  OR you could tell the girls you're getting them one of these 2 and let them pick :)  I don't think they look cheap at all.

    Thanks for the support!

I would go with the second one that's more simple. I think it looks more elegant and chic that way, with all the details already going on in the dress itself.

  • I'm with Novella -- the 2nd one of those is definitely better.

Thanks for the input! I agree, the second one is a bit more elegant for a wedding. The first one would be rockin' for a fun night out, though :D

  • My BMs wore a similar gray (in chiffon) for my wedding and we went with silver shoes. It ended up being a mix of silver shoes and pewter colored shoes and it honestly didn't matter. Everyone looked great!

I honestly prefer the second option over the first. The first is too gaudy for me.
