Please give your input! I have an industrial venue and I don't know how to pick colors!

Hello there!

Colors have been a constant source of stress for me! My amazing venue is very historic and couldn't be more perfect for our wedding day!

We are getting married around 4-ish in the afternoon next July!

I am hitting a brick wall when it comes to colors thought, since the walls in the space are a dark sage/olive color and ivory.

For a month I thought I had found "my colors" (dark jade, dark sage/olive and marigold yellow....I will admit that those colors will do nothing to brighten my dark reception space.) but now I am discovering how HARD its to find BM dresses and decor in those colors. That made me reconsider my color choices BIG TIME! We are going BM dress shopping this weekend and I don't know what to look for!!!

I have been throwing around ideas of all shades of blue or all shades of green...or even olive, blush and navy combo....

What are your thoughts/ideas? If this was your venue what colors would you go with?

You can do any color you want to with that space. I would avoid having dresses in green since they will be standing in front of that green paint, but just about anything else should work.

Maybe use compliments of the green, it wouldn't need to look christmas-y. Sorry the pic is so big!

I agree with PP that you could pretty much do whatever you want with color, especially because that green seems pretty palette-friendly, so it'd come down to what sort of *feel you want, if that makes sense.

If I was using that particular space, with the given pictures, I'd be tempted to do something really modern and edgy with a lot of black/white/metals mixed with pops of lush green here and there.

Or maybe some fusion of industrial-natural with earthy browns, grays and forest greens. But then again, I live in Washington and I'm 90% sure that industrial-natural is something that could only successfully exist in the PNW.

I'd avoid green dresses because they'll either clash with or disappear against that green wall when your BMs are standing up there.

You could use pretty much any color in that space. I love it. That's something I would have picked for my wedding.

Pick whatever color you want but green dresses might clash unless your color scheme is "shades of green". Brown, yellow, blue, purple, and red all go good with green and black goes good with anything.

Honestly, I didn't really have "wedding colors" besides the bridesmaid dress color (a minty/aqua color). The venue already had lots of blues/greens, so I just chose things that complemented. We had aqua and antique gold table overlays, white chairs, silver and gold mercury glass candle holders and vases, and flowers were shades of coral, salmon, ivory, yellow, silvery green (dusty miller) and greenish blue (succulents). But I didn't have a predetermined palette to stick to.

You can sort of see here... nothing matches, but everything "goes."

I really like the purple and green idea. The magenta flowers in your picture look really nice as well in that space. I think those colors would really brighten up that space.

After talking with my FH we decided on mint blue, gold and silver (metallics)

We think the metallic colors are really going to brighten the space a lot! And we just LOVE the minty blue...I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Hopefully everything will come together now!

dont do green would clash do purple or a dark blue and accent with the green.

Yes, do the metallics and add yellow and greenery. you really should add lighting and perhaps some silver and gold lanterns with lights in them to add more light and interest to the room. Great space - best of luck!
