Can I wear real flowers in my hair?

I would love to have some real flowers in my hair, but is it possible? can they hold a few hours? my hair will be done probably long before the ceremony even starts

Re: Can I wear real flowers in my hair?

  • I think it may depend on what flowers you choose as some are more hardy than others so check with your florist and leave them in the fridge as long as you can and only put them in moments before the ceremony starts or they may not last. I also wonder how hair products may or may not affect them.
  • I had a button mum and a small succulent in my hair. My florist gave me a bunch of small samples for my hair trial and my hair stylist played around to figure out what would work. I had a curly side ponytail so it was easy to pin them in there. She put them in after she had done the final hairspray. Succulents work well because they can survive for weeks out of water. What kind of flowers were you thinking of?

  • Yes, you can do this, but ask your florist which type of flower will hold up the best. Some types have petals that bruise easily, and some types will immediately wilt and turn brown if they're not in water. Your florist will be able to tell you the different types that will survive the longest and look pretty as hair accessories. (Or you could probably google it)

  • I did!  i just asked my florist what type would hold up and she got me some.  I think they were orchids, little ones.     They were in my hair for about 12 hours and were still perfet at the end of the night

  • I did this at prom and they looked awful and brown and wilty. But I just stole them from the parking lot at my bank the day of prom. So don't do that.
  • You definitely can! For my brother's wedding, the other bridesmaids and I had orchids in our hair. I definitely agree with previous people; talk to your florist to see what will hold up well.
