Complicated Dress to Accessorize

Hi everyone! My dress has a heavily beaded bodice and is a strange color. I'm getting married on a cliff in Scotland at a castle ruin and it will most likely be chilly, possibly raining. I seriously lack accessorizing skills and this is beyond me. Any ideas for a bolero, cardigan, etc?! I've included pics of the dress.

I have no ideas other than a pashmina and an umbrella, but wanted to comment that your dress is gorgeous!

I had no idea what a pashmina was, so I looked it up! Ohhhh...I had no idea that's what those were called. That's helpful. Thanks for the dress compliment, it hasn't been fitted yet and I think I want to add a sweetheart neckline and a tie up to replace the zipper.

This is an important point. If it ends up cold and rainy you should have a back-up plan to get married indoors.

What I had said was - I hope you're not subjecting your guests to cold and rain, so your plan b should remove the necessity of a bolero. But if you do chose to wear something (or are having no guests) I would go with a complementary color rather than trying to match.

There is a drawing room at the castle that is available in case of rain. Honestly, the only thing I'm having a problem with is figuring out what color and style of cover would coordinate well. It's an elopement, so there won't be other people to be cold and damp. We are aware of what we are getting into.

I only mentioned the rain because I need a cover that might get wet, as in not silk. I assure you, the rain has been accounted for. As for the cold, I live in Arizona and I consider anything less than 80 degrees chilly (the 124 degree summers tend to make a person soft). My fiancé is from Canada and he wears shorts in the winter time.

As far as color, what about green? I think a sage or olive green would complement the color of your dress nicely and go with your FI's tartan. You could also just do a deeper taupe/beige.

I appreciate all the good ideas! I held up several items I have in my closet to find a good color match, and it's not an easy color to compliment!! I considered a nice green to match my fiancé's kilt, but none of the colors I have jive. Taupe might do the trick, though. A very specific, light taupe. I can't exactly take my dress to the mall to match it, so I was thinking of getting some paint chips at the hardware store! Lol. Pics of the dress don't show it's true color. Faux fur could be elegant, maybe a shade of ivory would match. Hmm. Thanks for the ideas!

What do you think about complementing with a light pink or ivory cardigan like the pic below? My dress might not be playful enough for the look.

I think something open in the front might be better, so you're not covering up the beading.

You're right. And it should be short like a shrug so it doesn't look bulky over the tie up that I'm going to have added. I'm thinking I'll crochet my own shrug, that way I can buy a great matching yarn, it will look more delicate, I can fit it perfectly, and perhaps I can add just a few AB crystal beads to coordinate with my bodice (or perhaps a delicate flower). I'll check out some crochet patterns.
