Sometimes it seems like FI and I have the worst luck.
His Jeep had the engine go out twice. The second time, we got rid of it and got a new car (better gas mileage for commute). The deal was he would drive the new car until we got him a small truck and I would keep driving my working but piece of crap car. Well we finally get his truck in August an dI have been driving the new car.
Last night on his way home from class, it apparently made a weird popping noise and started grinding. It was dark so he is looking at it today but it could be anything from the rear end gears to universal joint to the brakes. Luckily, none of this is super expensive.
I was going to drive the old car today so he could change the oil in the new car. Great, we have an extra car for emergencies like this. Well, the old car wouldn't start. I was late for work because we tried to charge the battery and that took a while. Eventually we gave up because we were both going to be late and went to my dad's and he let me use his car.
***This next part is a sad thing about an animal so read with caution***
The worst part is, last night we stopped to see my dad and get a drop cord to connect the battery charger., Well on the way out, we stopped outside at the dairy house (it's just a small added on room that is concrete to keep cool and was used to store milk from the cows) to see the kittens. My brother and his girlfriend have a cat who had kittens six weeks ago.
We play with them and omg they are so cute and FI was going to let us keep one because our kitty needs a playmate. We go to leave and I have to shut the dairy house door so they will stay in there because we have coyotes. I shut one of the kittens in the door because he was trying to come out! It screamed and squirmed around. I thought I killed it. I was hysterical. I threw up. I hyperventilated.
Eventually he stopped moving and I thought it was dead but his eyes were still open and he was breathing. So then I thought I paralyzed him which was even worse. My dad goes to get my brother and he comes to see it. I couldn't even touch the kitten without panicking again. But he picked it up and it moved it's feet a little. He texted me later to say he checked on him and he got him to walk around some. So hopefully he is okay and I just hurt him and he is sore.
I'm not really asking for advice but wallowing in self pity and kicking myself for being so careless around the kittens.
Re: Pity Party in here *Update in Comments*
I'm sure the kitten will be fine. They're resilient little critters and will be back to normal soon.
As for your car, that sucks. DH keeps a beater around for times like these but they're never dependable either. It's so frustrating when stupid things like cars get in the way!
Oh honey I am so sorry! I'm sure the kitty will be ok.
You are not a cat killer or a bad person! Big hugs coming your way!
He will have to have an epic name. FI and I are weird and all of our pets are named after country singers but we are stuck on a name right now and may have to change it up.
Oh gosh, how traumatizing for you! The worst animal experience I had was with a mouse. I have 2 dogs, and used to live close to a field, so sometimes during the winter they (mice) would find their way in to stay warm. Anyways, I heard a bunch of weird noises from my dog in the kitchen in the morning, like just alot of nails on the wood. So I went down, and she was playing with the mouse, but like, stomping on it! Poor thing. So I got so mad at the dogs, shooed them away, and went to check on the mouse, but he was still alive but his back legs were not moving, and he wasnt much either but I could tell he was still alive. I started balling my effing eyes out, because I thought I should put him out of his misery, but I couldnt. So he was just laying there dying and I didnt do anything
I am tearing up as I write this lol. I called my boyfriend crying in that annoying super high pitched voice that you cant understand anything, and he was like wtf. Anyways, the mouse died a short time later, and I scooped him up with a dust pan and put it outside.
I'm glad your kitty is ok
