Christmas Card save the dates

My fiance and I are getting married November 14, 2015. I wanted to make things easier, and send out our save the dates as Christmas cards this year. Is that considered tacky, and too early?

Re: Christmas Card save the dates

  • I'd say that's tacky. Not necessarily too early, but the holidays and your wedding have nothing to do with each other so it's odd to lump them together. I'd send them seperately.

  • If I got a Christmas themed std it would go in the trash in January, but if it's a non-holiday one I'd probably keep it until the invite came in the mail.

  • I put printed letters in my Christmas cards.  There is nothing wrong with mentioning that you are engaged and planning a wedding in November.  If you include the phrase "Save the date" in the letter, be sure that you are going to invite these people!
Save the Dates are not really necessary if you have informed everyone already.

  • Eh, I think its tacky. Not rude, but tacky.

  • I wouldn't use Christmas cards for save-the-dates because despite your best efforts, someone whom you need to keep theirs will throw the card away after the holidays without saving the date. Of course this could happen with a regular save-the-date, but it's more likely to happen with a Christmas card.
