Wedding Woes

Morning

How many more years until TG is not so damn late in November?  I like it better when you have a week of November left after TG.

I have presents stacking up and I need to start wrapping.  We don't have our tree up yet...I think we're doing it Sunday. Maybe I'll feel the spirit once the tree is up.

DH only has to work one Saturday before Christmas.  YAY!  :)

Re: Morning

  • I broke out my not-so-new wood burner last night. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to start using it. I finished a project in 45 minutes that would have taken me HOURS with the old burner. I LOVE it. It'll make doing my SS so much easier.
  • This is making me laugh this morning:

It just highlights the insanity of toddlers.  They get the weirdest ideas in their head and no matter how much cajoling or putting your foot down, they *will not* be talked out of it.
  • Morning.

Our holiday was busy, as usual, but so much fun.

Yesterday DH and I did a ton around the house.  Not just regular cleaning - actual to-do list items that we've needed to do for months - replace smoke alarms, cut plywood and shove up the attic hole to use as flooring for attic storage, pinterest how to get the dirty ring out of the basement bathroom toilet and then rejoice when it actually worked, go through clothes and take 3 huge garbage bags full to goodwill, hang up our wedding photo frame collage thingy that we had to take down when we painted the living room two years ago, etc.  We also got some cyber monday shopping in as well.

We've got our furniture rearranged so we have a spot for the upstairs tree.  We'll get a real tree for the basement living room (where we open presents) later this week but we are putting up the fake tree in the living room tonight.  I'm ready for a festive feel in the house.
  • I love days that that Taw.  You feel so accomplished by the end of the day.  :)
  • Morning. I've been up since 5:30 am and went to bed at 1 am. Today is going to be long. I need to get my house back in order after this weekend and do some meal planning. DH's parents are in town and we are supposed to host them for dinner one night so I need to figure that out.

Last night we got an Elf on the Shelf. DH has actually been dying to do it but I'm glad we waited because DS probably wouldn't have gotten it last year. DS named him Hedgehog Frock. I have no idea where he got that from, but whatever. Hedgehog Frock it is. Now I'm looking at Pinterest for ideas and getting sucked down a rabbit hole of elaborate Elf on the Shelf things.
  • Elf on the Shelf is just one more thing I would forget to do. I was filling the Advent calendar with Halloween candy last night.  That elf would sit in one spot and mock me then I'd forget to put him away and he'd laugh his ass off until next year.

Max had two year pictures this morning.  My baby is almost TWO!

  • my MIL bought Wolverine an elf (2?) Christmases ago. It's in a box somewhere.

I'm iffy on the concept - I expect my kid to behave herself without the threat of an elf reporting on her.

I also really don't want to be bothered with trying to come up with shit for a toy elf to do.
  • My mom bought an Elf for us.  I have no idea where it is.  DefConn doesn't 'get' it.  The kiddo is too old.  I, nor DH, have any desire to put the effort into moving him and making him do shit.
