Wicked Spoon

These people must work on commission, and it is very frustrating. I first emailed and got a response from Kelly, who quoted me $47/pp for holiday dinner (we are getting married December 23). Ok, that seems a little early for holiday dinner, but whatever. Some people here recommended that I contact Rose at Wicked Spoon, which I did. She quoted $57/pp!!! Needless to say that if we book with them, we will do it through Kelly, but a $10/pp difference in quotes just seems outrageous to me. It almost makes me want to pay more to go to Bacchanal at Ceasar's.

Re: Wicked Spoon

• That is part of the reason we decided to go with Carmine's. I was frustrated with all the price changes and worried about having to deal with that on my wedding day. I heard the food is amazing and it is a cute space but not worth the frustration. Hopefully we can eat there sometime during our visit :)

• We've eaten there before and it's amazing, and it would be really nice to offer our guests that much of a choice of food. It is just incredibly frustrating, especially when other buffets has a set price list.
• I think it depends on which way the wind is blowing with that group...

• I'm having my reception at Wicked Spoon on August 1, 2015, and I've been quoted $41++ pp and a $2500 ++ minimum by Rose. It does seem like there is a lot of variation among dates and contact people, however, I've had trouble finding reception venues that are near Paris Las Vegas (my wedding venue) offer private rooms, and aren't outrageously priced. Does anyone have any suggestions, or do you think that Wicked Spoon is my best bet? Have people had successful receptions there? Any complaints?

• Bacchanal is amazing but they are more expensive than Wicked Spoon. It's in Caesar's Palace.
• Look in the Caesar Fourm Shops. Check out Trevi and Carmine's. Both have been awesome to work with, have a variety of menus to choose from that would fit most budgets.

PS...keep the email from Rose that quoted you $41pp...I used that to make sure I got that price as she later quoted $10 more.

• Rose quoted me $10 higher than the other girl. I am really tempted to email them back and ask why I got 2 different quotes for the same day.
• I so find it really weird that they quotes you two different prices. You won't be charged an agrees upon price but what ever is the price of the buffet when you go. I think that is why they put the plus signs. My final paper work says as such, no garunteed in price, the price will be what ever the price of the buffet is. Funny thing is, rose told me I had to buy the same drink package for everyone but when I got there they let my guest choose which saved is $300.
• Huh. That's interesting about the drink package. What drink packages did they choose between? The only one I remember seeing was the house wine package.
• There was the choice to so house wine, beer and wine and open bar. We planned the beer and wine at 25 pp.our guests all ordered the house wine or just got soft drinks and water. They only charges those drinking wine for the wine package so it saves us $15-$25 pp
• Oh that's really interesting. If that was the case we could all be saving lots of money haha

• Seriously. And not wasting our time with these people giving us silly quotes.

Replying here just so that the info is all in one place. I can't figure out why it's not taking my line breaks so sorry for the large block of text. We also were quoted two different amounts for F&B min for the private room ($3500 and $2500), so we are experiencing the same thing. We did, however, visit Wicked Spoon on Friday and met with a manager on staff since everyone was on vacation. I learned a LOT and I'm really excited about Wicked Spoon now. Depending on group size, if you don't reserve the private room you will either be sat over on the end of the restaurant (towards the right when you walk in, on the opposite side of the dessert area) or you'll be sat in the private room area just without the walls up. We want our guests to have a true Wicked Spoon experience so at the moment we are planning on reserving the private area (or maybe just asking to be sat there) but not closing off the space. The second thing I learned is that the private area as-is looks WAY better than in pictures I received, I'll try to post mine later on. The standard setup for the private space is brown linens with cream napkins, but you can also have the linens removed and add placemats. The finish on the table is the same glossy brown finish as the rest of the restaurant.

As for drinks- we asked and confirmed that guests can opt in to whatever they want (!). So instead of doing the $15 unlimited mimosas/bloody marys for everyone - knowing that some won't drink - we plan on letting everyone know that is what we are covering but they are free to order whatever they want (secretly we'll pick up the tab for everyone, but we're going to push them towards the cheaper option here). Additionally, at the restaurant itself the unlimited $12 (not $15) includes mimosas, bloody mary's, AND champagne. So. Here's to hoping we can save $3 a person for those who order it and for those who want champagne for toasts it's included with that. They even said they can put out champagne bottles and pitchers of OJ on tables if you reserve the private room (but bloody marys are all made by hand). The manager gave some great advice and said to get things like this written into our contract! In terms of bringing things before hand, there's only about a 30 min window where our tables will be reserved, so some of our closer guests would need to come by to help set up the tables with decor if needed. OK there's my brain dump! Sorry it wasn't in a separate post, but felt like all info in one place is probably easier for folks :D
• Look at the time of day and the drink options they give you carefully. Consumption is the way we are going too. For the evening drink packages, we didn't think there was any way everyone would drink enough to make it worth it.

I figure $12 unlimited mimosas x 60 = $720 alcohol cost, divided by $6 average cost of mimosa = 120 mimosas breakeven. I estimate our wedding party of 6 can tackle...40 servings by ourselves, so we only need our remaining 58 guests to drink 80 mimosas for breakeven.

• The unlimited mimosas are a good deal. However, I don't think the wine and beer packages are, especially since they generally limit you to 2 hours. Plus they have happy hour pricing from 5-7.
• Whew that's a lot of math lol

• I was actually debating consumption vs packages recently. I'm not at Wicked Spoon, but Joe's offers both options. I've even got a spreadsheet drawn up guestimating what everyone will drink! LOL...

• So of course, the folks at the Group Reservations area totally contradict what the manager told us regarding guests being able to opt in themselves (individually) to the the unlimited drinks. They of course say that the $12 price is for "Wicked Spoon Guests Only"....which.... aren't we guests?!? I'm very confused about the response there. I'm letting my fiance handle that negotiation because they aren't making sense at all. The management staff at WS seems far more concerned with making us happy than the group res people are.

Also, they told us that "standard" was the glossy table + placemats (normal wicked spoon tablescape) and not the linens, even though while we were there the linens were on the table standard. Very odd.
