How many rooms should you block for out of town guests?

Hello ladies,

I'm looking into booking rooms for out of town guests (I know I'm a little late). How many rooms should I block for guests? Our guest list is 120 and I would say about 60 are from out of town (Columbus and Youngstown). I'm looking at Garfield  Suites Cincinnati and a couple of other places. I don't want to book/reserve to little or too many.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I went through and counted the amount of families/couples that would be coming in from out of town and then used that as the amount of rooms to block off.  One of the hotels said they could only give me a certain amount of rooms blocked off for the time being until most of them were booked up and then they would let me reserve more.  I guess it just depends on what the hotel let you do.

We have about 40 OOT guests comming in (those are just the 'people number'. The family number is 13. We blocked 20 rooms at Hilton Netherland Plaza. When you add in our room, the bridesmaids, groomsmen and both sets of our parents are staying it came out to a total of 20 rooms). Our hotel said if MORE called in to book it was no problem (as long as they had availability) and said they would honor the discounted rate....which is great!!
