caterer, cupcakes, bridal expo

Hello! I'm a May 2015 bride in corolla! We have booked barbara Mulford for our officiant and Artz Photographer for our pictures. I'm struggling with finding someone for catering. I'm looking for someone who will cater at our rental home and has good options (I am SO picky when it comes to food). It definitely does not have to he seafood, I would rather steer clear of that. Also, has anyone just gotten cupcakes from a local grocery store bakery there? We don't want any fancy flavors or anything just basic cupcakes and a small cake to cut, but still taste good. One last question, I'm looking for some type of arch or something for one the beach for the ceremony, I saw a picture of one that almost had like streamers hanging down from it too, does anyone know where they can be rented from?

I'm for PA but considering coming down for the bridal expo in January, does anyone have advice as to whether it's worth the trip down?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: caterer, cupcakes, bridal expo

  • We used Coastal Provisions for our catering and several other brides have used them as well. Absolutely fantastic with a good variety! The rosemary chicken with pesto aioli was probably my favorite thing.....the crab cakes were pretty awesome though! What kind of menu are you looking for? ,other brides have done an all out BBQ, since you are in N, Carolina, and had great reviews. Give us some ideas on what kind of menu and vibe you are looking for and I'm sure we can help out. Yes, a few brides have used Harris Teeter for cakes and cupcakes.....even flowers too actually :) I used bamboo poles with long ribbons in our colors on the beach. It was quite windy that day, so it worked out nicely. We DIY'd those by cutting them and using a torch to give them that nice tan color. You can rent things though from a Ocean Atlantic or Metro Rentals. Absolutely 100% worth the trip! I went down with one idea in mind and left doing something completely different. You get a chance to meet with different vendors, tour different homes and venues and especially try lots of yummy food! Saturday is more of a self guided, go at your own pace around the island kind of day. The cocktail hour on Sat night gives you more of a reception type atmosphere with dj's, lights, more food, etc. the expo on Sunday is the big one with all of the vendors in one place. Thought I was renting an event home with a big white tent and ended up having a beach ceremony and the reception ar 108 Budleigh. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions.

  • Hi- welcome! I am from PA as well! What part do you live in? I second using Coastal Provisions, we ended up not using them because we held our wedding at the Sanderling, but we tasted with them, and it was delicious. In terms of an arbor, we rented from our florist, Sugar Snaps. We didn't go to the Expo, but I have heard great feedback from those who have. A trip to the OBX is always a fun time!
