Wedding Woes

It kills me.

When a parent says, "My child would never."

Guess what? I see things kids do everyday that their parents would never think they would do. They're 13 years old. Sometimes around another group of 13 year olds, they do stuff they wouldn't do at home.

How about you wait until we can all meet and get the other side of the story before you start calling people liars. K

Since when do parents believe everything their kid says. My parents would always assume that there is probably more to the story, yo.

Re: It kills me.

  • I agree with you, but I try not to think about it too much and trust my kid (in a reasonable way).  Because thinking about it too much scares me.  ;)
  • Yes, I think parenting should come with a hearty helping of side-eye.

It was the lying part that got me. Of course parents know their kids and what they are and not capable us, but how the approach of, "I talked with my son and got his side of the story and now I want to hear the teacher's side, because this is very out of character for him."

  • Hell, my child is relatively honest and 4, and I am quite sure she's capable of lying to me about what she's doing.

  • 6let likes to say "I don't remember."  The kid's memory is better than Hmo's so I know it's that he doesn't want to say.  There have been times he's done things out of character, but I would believe he did it.
