HELP!!! Bridesmaid dresses won't arrive in time!

I have 2 bridesmaids that have not ordered their dresses yet. I'm freaking out because it's less than 3 months until the wedding so I'm pretty positive they won't arrive in time. Leaving them out isn't an option. I'm searching the internet for the exact dresses but if I can't find them what are my other options? Any thoughts or experiences are welcome. Oh, the dress is David's Bridal F15662 in Peacock if anyone happens to have 2 lying around lol.

Have them pay the rush fee or let them wear a different dress.

  • David's Bridal is pretty quick. You may still get them on time. Don't stress yet. That's not to say they should wait too much longer either.

  • Honestly, if they order them soon (even as far out as 1.5 months out) I really think that they will arrive on time.  DB can turn around orders pretty darn fast.  Also they can pay a rush order fee if necessary.

If the dresses cannot arrive in time then see if they can buy a dress in your chosen color from a DB store (they typically have dresses for sale as is).  It may not be the chosen dress but at least it will be in the right color.  Also check out ebay

  • preownedweddingdresses.com has some bm dresses too I think
  • It looks like that one is out of stock online, but there are some other styles available in the same color. In my experience BM dresses from the DB website arrived within a couple weeks, so they could still get them in time for the wedding - it just wouldn't be the exact same style as the others.

  • You are panicking over nothing. David's Bridal will not take 3 months to come in. My wedding gown took less than 2 weeks even though they told me 6-8 when I ordered. The salespeople there are trained to lie about how long dresses take to make you order nownownow so they get their commission quicker.

  • Look on ebay, buy off the rack and get it cut down to a 2.
  • When we ordered dresses from DB they were in within two weeks. It was a popular style though, not sure if that made a difference. Just don't tell your BM that. If they can't get the dresses in time then see if they can find a dress in the right length & color just a different style off the rack. And as rude as this sounds, not including them IS an option. They agreed to be BM which means they agreed to buy the dress (assuming you stuck to the budget they provided for you) and that means ordering it in time too. If they don't do that, then they should consider themselves removed.

As someone who worked at DB, that is totally not true. Yes, most of the time orders do come in early, but occasionally they do take the full amount of time. We HAVE to tell people the longest it could possibly take so people don't FLIP out if it takes longer than they are told. ONCE in the two years I worked there, there was an incident at the warehouse and a set of BM dresses arrived a week late. The MOB threatened to have our store manager arrested if she didn't get the dresses right away.

Also, I never understand why people get upset that things come in early. It's not hurting you to have it early. When I ordered the bm dresses for my own wedding from DB, it was a cut to order color and almost all of them took the full amount of time and only got in four weeks before my wedding. I so wished they had come early but they didn't.
  • i would be more worried if it was a private bridal salon non chain store ( mom and pop) because they use x amount of designers and those dresses can take longer to come in vs davids.

with davids they mass produce all the dresses and ship them to the various wearhouses and stores and they can see who has it and get it to you faster.

i got my dress from a small salon it was a mori lee it took two months to come in
my bridesmaid dresses ordered in november came in april wedding was in june

I completely agree with you. I listened to everyone that said I had plenty of time to order BM dresses from DB. We went dress shopping 3 months before my wedding and the color I had picked out was cut to order. My BM's didn't get their dresses until two weeks before the wedding and had to rush to get their alterations done in time. I wish I had gone earlier and not listened to everyone who said their dresses come in within a couple weeks.
