We were planning on getting new appliances as part of the kitchen "refresh", so when our oven quit working last week we just bought a new one.  I didn't do too much thinking about a "suite" of appliances since we aren't ready for that.  I just found one at a good price with decent reviews. 

So how big of a deal is it if you go to look at a house and the stove is a GE, the dishwasher is a Maytag and the fridge is Whirlpool?  Do you walk out in disgust?  Or as long as they are the same color you don't care?

Also, my new stove has a chicken nugget button.  You know, for when I need chicken nuggets in such a hurry that I can't bother hitting two extra buttons to get the temperature in the right place.

    Mismatched appliances don't bother me.   You'd have to talk to Hmo about her preferences.

    LOL @ the chicken nugget button. 

    My sister's microwave in her new house has a 'myplate.gov' button.  What the what?

    As long as they're the same color, I don't care much. Though after buying this house with its oven that's *just* too small for two cookie sheets and the dishwasher that's *just* too small for all my dishes, I might start measuring if I ever have to buy again.

    Different brands don't bother me.  I prefer that they're all the same color, but even then, if the price of the house is right, having to buy new appliances isn't a dealbreaker to me.

    I'm very much a go-with-the-flow-and-i'll-make-it-my-own-later person.

    I should say that mismatched appliance *brands* don't bother me. 

    I think it would be weird to have a white dishwasher and a stainless steel stove.

    Different brands don't bother me.  Different colors not too much either.  Our old house had black stove and dishwasher and white frig.  Just don't show the house to hmo ;)

    i personally like similar color and specific features versus brands. i mean, really, if i need a chicken nugget button, that will be more important to me than the brand that DOESNT have the nugget button.

    i hate SS.

    Confession: I truly have no idea the make/model of any of our appliances. I liked how they looked when we were looking at the house, they all match and they all work, so that was good enough for me.

    Matching brand and color > matching color > matching nothing. 

    But really. What's the cost of a new stove when you're talking about a whole house? If it's a dealbreaker because you aren't willing to spend $800 on a new stove (and sell the old one on craigslist for $250 or whatever), then you should just build. That's probably the same kinds of people who won't buy a house because a bedroom is painted a shade of green they dislike.

    i would assume that $800 is cheap to a person who considers a stove to be a dealbreaker.

    (my stove/oven was under$500 i think when we moved in, and it is white.)

    The one I bought was a $1099 stove on sale for $599.  Then I used by Lowe's card to get 5% off and also applied a $100 gift card I got from redeeming credit card points.  Final cash cost to me:  $469 + tax.  I plan on using the savings to buy my weight in chicken nuggets.

    That's awesome zsa.  The nugget button is killing me.  If you eat that many why not just microwave?

    Our last two stoves and frig were scratch and dent from Lowe's provided by FIL so I don't know what the cost was.
