And I can't stop smiling! A lot of you know that I had quite a few bumps in the road leading up to the big day. It came and went so fucking fast!!! LOL! I want to turn back the clock!
The ceremony was great! We had a Catholic Mass, and there was laughter, tears and excitement. During the homily the priest complimented me on how great I looked, and the best man said, "thank you!" My veil fell off my head 4 times! LOL! After we gave each other our rings, the priest asked everyone to clap for us. I got so excited I started jumping up and down and from then on my veil kept coming off! I wasn't expecting to get so emotional, but I did. My father and I were BOTH crying, according to my mother. The closer I got to FI (not DH...yay!!!), the more teary eyed I got.
There weren't that many people in the church, which was good in a way, because we got our family pics done early. DH and I REALLY wanted to be at our cocktail hour, and we got our wish! We had some more pics before cocktail hour started and during the beginning of it, (including our photographer asking us to go outside in 30 degree weather, and asked me to climb up on a table in 5" heels for a pic!) but, mission accomplished, we got to be at our cocktail hour.
The reception and food were phenomenal! So was our signature drink, Coco Snowball! Yummy! Thank God for photo booths! The kids stole the whole night! They were running around, going in and out of the photo booth, just having a BALL! I asked one of my friends if she had a pillow and blankets for her kids because they weren't going to want to leave! I got really emotional during our first dance song (Thank You For Loving Me by Bon Jovi). It was also our first time slow dancing together EVER! Towards the end of the night, I surprised my parents by having the DJ play their first dance song (Till) and surprised them with flowers and a speech about how their "lessons" about marriage are going to help myself and DH.
So many of us dream as little girls as to what our weddings will be like. My first wedding was beautiful, but it wasn't part of my dream. Last night was. I had my dream wedding to my dream guy. Come August, we will be going on our dream honeymoon...Hawaii!!!!
Coco Snowball
2 oz Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka
2 oz Malibu Rum
2 oz Coco Lopez (don't know what that is lol)
1/4 oz blue curaçao
Shake well and put into a martini glass. Rim glass with honey and sprinkle shredded coconut on rim. You can also put it on top of the drink. My venue did both! See pic below! :-)
