How much is......

Your ceremony location, espically if its a church  (if you don't mind answering this question)? My FI's family has been a member of their church for over 40 years and they have a fee of $700 for the church for four hours and $150 for the pastor we chose to marry us. I just think its crazy that they are charging us $850 to basically get married and take pictures! My grandmother's church only asked for an $100 donation!! They were already booked though Frown.

I guess this is like a question/vent session!

Thanks for listening

Wow... This is the first time I have heard of a church charging members... I thought they usually just "requested" a donation...

    Sorry, I'm not much help...

Umm, that seems a bit much to me.  We are getting married in the Catholic Church, and our donation to the church was $250 (extra $50 since we were from other church parishes).  However, I hear it is customary to tip the priest about $100, so we will do that also, just for his time.

At my church if you (or your parents) are a member, they ask for for a donation. But if you are not a member they charge $500 (and that includes the pastor's donation).

My grandma's church which wasn't available asked for a $100 donation. I also posted this on my wedding month board and most ladies there are paying about the same as me, some of them are paying a bit more!

Wow.. I've never heard of that. Our church only accepts donations (and there's no "recommended" amount).

Thank goodness mine is free and there is no fee for the pastor. We will be giving him a donation though.

    They are charging us:

    $500- sanctuary usage
    $100- church wedding coordinator(required)
    $100- sound guy(required)
$150- pastor including premarital sessions, and rehearsal

Oh I forgot we have to pay $100 to use the fireside rooms to hold the guys and girls even though we aren't even getting ready at the church!!

    so grand total is $950
