Wedding Woes

I'm gonna complain because I"m an ingrate whose back hurts so I'm grumpy as all get out.

1-the timing of things means I'll be working through the 23rd. My family celebrates on the 24th. WHEN am I supposed to get shit done?
(Classes end today, faculty will be gone before Friday. Staff is here a few extra days and comes back a week sooner--so still a generous amt. of time off)

2-My back isn't miraculously better (I've had my back periodically go out for 20 years. It's been incredibly good for the past few years. The timing is just bad. I just fought tears walking across the damn room)--I will have to beg the Mr. to cut 20 more pieces of PVC or else only half the family will get marshmallow shooters and it will be war--or the wrong type of war .

3-I have booked my Friday night. I don't want it booked. It's booked because my parents are generously buying us all passes to do the Christmas historical Railroad thing. Buffy will love it. (My memories of Huckleberry railroad involve my then-under-8 year old sister getting motion sick on the top-level carriage, and puking on the actor below her. Who was luckily, or unluckily, wearing a rather expensive cowboy hat to do the pretend holdup sheriff role) I want to stay in and drink cocoa. With schnapps.

4-I don't wanna wrap gifts. See #2 and I can't make the Mr. do them because he's a lousy wrapper (and I'm a pro :-P). See drinking cocoa and schnapps.

5-I don't wanna work tomorrow. See #1, and drinking cocoa and schnapps. But I will get SO MUCH DONE without students here.

I think I need to stop for liquor on the way home.

  • All of my gifts are wrapped and ready.

I can't find a ride to the airport so I'm going to have to pay to park my car for a week. Boo.

I'm eating salads all week for dinner because I'm going to hurt myself when I go home. It's not good.

  • Do you have those "park and stay" places near the airport where you stay the night before, take their suttle, and they park you for free?  they can be awesome...or terrifying (<MIL booked us into extended stay america @ the Detroit airport for our last one.  Yeah, not ideal)

Yay for pre-wrapped gifts.  And I am staying 'on diet' (stupid solidarity for the Mr's health issues) until Christmas, then saying ET ALL THE COOKIES.
  • Boo to back pain!

NOLA - I second the park and stay options or an airport shuttle/limo service.  Around here, those are cheaper than long term parking, but your mileage may vary.

All my shopping is done but nothing is wrapped yet.  I'll do one wrapping session and get it all done while DH is working.  Cards were done last night and I still want to make a few holiday treats.  I'm behind this year.

  • Dude, let your husband drop the gifts in a bag and call it done.  At least get that off your plate.   I haven't wrapped Max's gifts nor gift any thought whatsoever to Christmas.  DH even sent the gifts for his side of the family already.
  • I still haven't finished Christmas shopping. I need to wrap that up and work on wrapping gifts.More than likely, I will end up doing a mad rush of presents on Christmas Eve. Thankfully, my side of the family isn't celebrating until the end of the year and so I have those few extra days to get things taken care of.
  • Word to bagging it (or just hide it around and say Santa got drunk on the peppermint schnapps and it's an Easter egg hunt now)

Say no to Pinterest perfect holidays and yes to DH helping because...spousal imperative.

  • Oooh, a few years ago, I got all martha-stewart and sewed cloth bags for gifts.
I wonder how many of those made it home vs. going home w/ the recipient?
They'll be in the bottom of the wrapping box--I am totally sending the Mr. into bag-seeking-mode tonight--I know we have some.
  • Dude, send him to the Dollar Store.
  • I have two last gifts to wrap for my brothers. I have no idea when I will be giving my family their gifts because I'm not seeing them over Christmas. I have suggested them coming over for a short period of time next Monday but we'll see what happens. I hate driving and I'll ready be doing a ton of it, I really don't want to have to drive to my home town just to drop off some gifts.

GBCK, I hope your back feels better. The marshmallow guns sound like a ton of fun.
