Too Late for Announcement

My husband and I were married at the end of May, 2014. We have since bought a house and moved in. We were not (of course) able to invite everyone, particularly a lot of my husband's extended family from out of state. Is now too late to send an announcement/notification of address? I could probably pass it by as a Christmas card if I get the ball rolling quickly. Any suggestions on phrasing, or should I just let this go?

Re: Too Late for Announcement

  • IMO a wedding announcement would be too late at this point.

Could you just send out Christmas cards and that way they'll see your new address anyway? Maybe include as part of your message in the card- "we are settled in our new house and are very excited! We must have you over in the new year!"

  • Too late for a wedding announcement. They probably know you're married anyway.

Get Christmas cards with a wedding photo on them (you can rush these through minted, vista print, etc.) and make sure you put your return address on it. That should do it to show people you got married, wish them happy holidays and give them your new address.

  • Put both the wedding and the New House news in the Christmas card/letter.  "We had a VERY eventful 2014.  In May we got married in a small ceremony in our home town.  And in November we bought a house in our new home town.  Blah, bla, etc."

You can send a new house/moving announcement if you want.  CLICK

  • I vote for the Christmas card / letter.  Another option would be a "Happy New year" card.  Personally this is how I keep track of most of the relative's addresses, i.e. checking the return address on any card / letter they send me.
