Ring upgrade wrong or right?

Hi everybody,

I just got engaged on my birthday (12/13) to a wonderful man who I've been with for almost 5 yrs. We have been living together for almost that whole time so the engagement ring subject has come up pretty often :) When he gave me the ring he immediatly send we can upgrade to a bigger one after tax season, it is a bit smaller than I had imagined (.5ct), Is it really wrong of me to take him up on the offer? someone told me i shouldn't change it because it is the original one, however this isn't the one that he really wanted to give me. what should i do...

    If he offered you the option of an upgrade, then I feel it's perfectly alright to accept, provided HE suggested it. It would be rude of you to bring it up. I know my father and mom were broke when they got engaged and/or married, so on her 40th birthday, he got her a new one. I think whether or not you two mutually decide to upgrade your ring is between you - and it's acceptable to do so if it's HIS idea!
