Show me your holiday tables!

I'm so happy to have a reason to use my nice china. I have a little juggling to do with the plates on where I'm going to squeeze people in. Ignore the ancient dining set. That's on it's way out next month.
Bonus - we hung our awesome guest sign in board over the bar. Looks pretty cool, right?

Re: Show me your holiday tables!

  • Nicely done @ClimbingBrideNY!  Fabulous job!   Days like today are the only times I wish I had nice China, but then the rest of the year I remember we have zilch space for it and remember why it's a good thing we don't.   Friends and family for tonight or just family?
  • I got caught up by the chairs. I really like them! And the guestbook on the wall. Looks like a lovely place to have a meal :)

It's actually the china I registered for when I got married the first time in 2004! It's been sitting in my grandmother's basement for a few years.
  • I don't have  room in our place for a dining room let alone a nice china set!!! Yours is beautiful though!!

I will share my "Christmas Tree" though! I love it this year!

  • No fancy tablescapes for us.  And....I have never owned nice china.  I have my g'mas butt ugly stuff she got weekly at the grocery store, but I am going to yard sale it one day to an unsuspecting soul.  I have service for 2 bazillion people.  It is hideous.

The only holiday we do a big dinner at the table is Thanksgiving.  It is DH's favorite meal of the entire year.  For all the others I instituted a "finger food" rule so I can enjoy the holiday too and not cook my fool head off and deal with the cleanup.  It has been incredibly well received.

  • Since the majority of my holiday (including today) has been spent at work, I don't have a  fancy holiday table at home. So instead, I present you with my holiday work desk!

  • Very nice.

No holiday table here.  I do have Christmas china.  We are normally working or OOT, so they haven't see the day of light in a while.

Right now our dining table has a few gifts on top.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    That is too cute.
  • I haven't set my Christmas China out in years, and my other China hasn't seen the light of day in at least a year or two. The next house I live in definitely needs a big dining room so I can get everything set out for once.
  • We have china, but don't get to use it this year since we're not hosting anything. I would normally have a tablescape anyway but H is weird about "clutter." Next year I'll catch him off guard and make Santa throw up all over the place.
I love the bolded....and Merry Christmas fellow Michigan girl!

  • I asked for Christmas plates for Christmas this year....I really want Christmas plates!!!

Our table is covered in wrapping crap right now, we're (thankfully) not hosting Christmas this year. We did Thanksgiving, we're done. Ok we're having a NYE party at our place but that's just our friends drinking and eating appetizers, way easier.
  • No holiday table here either. Not even at my mom's.  She will set out sandwiches, deviled eggs, salad, dips and cookies and we will fill plates to nibble on and sit in the living room and open presents while we munch.

There might be a table when we have our other Christmas on Saturday.  Will have to see about that.

I have my grandparents' wedding china in storage at my mom's.  I never entertain so I haven't used it yet.

I'm hoping to find Christmas plates after Christmas for a steal. I want salad plates with some silver that I can layer with my platinum rimmed dinner plates.

  • No fancy table here, but I made pie. Look at my pie.

    Mmm pie.

Also the server set is from our wedding so yay for using that crap more than once.

  • We ate dinner off fancy red and green plastic plates, some of which cracked when filled with food!
