Oahu Reviews - Lanikuhonua

My wedding was at Lanikuhonua and it was amazing.  I've been meaning to share reviews that may be helpful to other brides.  It was easy to plan everything myself because I worked with such wonderful vendors.  I'd recommend every single one of them!

Lanikuhonua - I didn't see the place until day of...and it took my breath away, it's even more beautiful in person.

Kahu Bruce (officiant)- He really is just as wonderful as everyone has mentioned.  What he did during the ceremony was unexpected but became my favorite memory of the whole day!  Everyone loved the ceremony.

Visionari (photographer)- LOVE THEM!!  They are my favorite...best decision I made.  Their work is stunning and the crew was so incredible, they really made our day.  Our guests were very impressed!

Aria Studios (videographer)- Haven't seen the video yet, but I can't wait, I know it's going to be good!  Their portfolio speaks for themselves, it's high quality.  Their style of storytelling is very natural and beautiful.

Faith & Beauty (hair & makeup)- Gemina is great!  We all loved our look, and it lasted all day long.

Always Flowers (florist)- Flowers were beautiful, and it was so easy to work with Todd.

Keneke's (caterer)- My guests loved the prime rib!  We enjoyed their food and their services.  Really cool staff.

Aloha On the Rocks (bartender)- Open bar was a must, and all we had to do was buy alcohol.  They provide everything else, what a great service!

N-D Mixx (DJ)- Fran & Gil are great..they're professionals who are good at what they do.  They set up for our ceremony and kept everyone dancing at the reception.

Gee Yung (lion dance)-  Always wanted lion dance at my wedding and they did not disappoint.  They brought three!

Shakabooth (photobooth)- Always wanted a photobooth too (studio style).  I brought my own props, and it was a lot of fun.

Cake Couture (cupcakes)- I wanted a certain look to the cupcakes and these are beautiful.  Oh, and bonus, they taste good too!

Accel Rentals- It was so easy to communicate and plan with them.  Their inventory is deep and well priced.  The crew was professional and quick, they did a great job setting up what I had in mind.

Marriott Ihilani- Free upgraded suite, score!  Beautiful hotel, we stayed for two nights, and did our first look pictures here.

  • Thanks for the reviews! Who was your wedding planner? Any other recommendations? Did you have phase 1 or phase 2? We are hoping to plan our wedding there next year!!! Can you message me with any other info or tips? Thank you!

Congrats, you will love lani!  I didn't have a planner, I didn't feel like I needed one.  So I don't have any recommendations for you...but I know they have since changed the rules to where you need one now.  My wedding was at phase 1, I love palm trees and wanted it in my ceremony pictures.  Phase 2 is the rock wall, and you get more of an immediate view of the ocean (palm trees are taller and off to the side unless you angle).  I looked at a lot of other people's weddings at lani on photographers/videographers site to get an idea of what I wanted for my own wedding.  That also let me check out their work (I was going for high quality photo/video).

You might want to check out http://www.theweddingcafe.net/ for vendor recommendations.  It's a wedding resource place that has a bunch of vendor listed, and they do workshops you can watch online where vendors come and talk about their work.  But they don't feature everyone though, most of my wonderful vendors aren't on there.
  • Thank you so much for posting this. I've been searching endlessly for a venue in Oahu and this might be more of what I'm looking for. I've gone back and forth about Ko'Olina, never having seen it and I keep leaning in that direction. I'm also glad that you mentioned not having a wedding planner. I've also gone back and forth on that issue as well but the list of vendors you used is a great help. I just might copy your wedding alltogether!

    Thanks again,

    Carla
  • I'm flattered and am so glad this helps!  Please keep in mind that if you decide to go with Lanikuhonua, they do require you to have a wedding planner now.  This was a new rule after I had booked my date.
