Make up artist recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good make-up artist for my wedding day? I've been researching prices, and they all seem outrageous!! I have even looked at "junior" artists and doing the session in the salon. It is a worthwhile investment for me, but I don't think I want to spend what most of the vendors are asking for. Also, I want someone who will do just make-up (instead of make-up and hair). Any advice you can offer would be a great help. Thanks!

    I'm on the hunt for this myself at the moment.  I'm going to the Bridal Extravaganza this weekend to see if I can get a better deal (pretty much my only reason for going).  Plus, I've seen girls getting their makeup done there, so I'm wondering if you can score a cheaper trial that way.

    The ones I've seen recommendations for are:

    Your Beautiful Face
    Sara with Cara Dulce, caradulcemakeup.com
    Sandra from The Perfect Face
    Studio 359 (this one wasn't recommended here but I discovered them at a bridal fair)

    It is super expensive and doesn't seem worth it.  I have interviewed one of the above and just was not impressed.  I was rushed and I do my makeup much better than they did.  I would suggest interviewing them, although this is also a very expensive task.

    TNT hair and spa, they do only makeup there, I think it's around $70-85. They use airbrushing

    Liz Day with Hair by Liz. She was one of the lower priced MUAs when I was doing my research and she and her assistant did an excellent job.

    It can be kind of expensive. Where do you live? I recently got my make up done for a wedding and it wasn't expensive. I don't know how much it would be just for the bride but you could look into it. It was in the sugarland area. If thats where you getting married I can get the info on the place.

    I rec Sara with Cara Dulce, she did an awesome job on my hair and makeup. She did airbrush and did lashes for me as well. My trial was 75, and my day of was $200, looks like she is running a special through the end of the month if you book, $50 off

    I'm going with Theresa from My Makeup Rocks! (mymakeuprocks.com). She's a little pricey but not as bad as some that I considered, and after my epics makeup trial, I think she's totally worth every penny. Airbrushed makeup is the best invention ever! She has price lists on her site.

    I used Hues by Heather for my bridals and my wedding day and she did an amazing job!

    i'm not sure why I am about to post this but... my fiancé's ex owns Winx.  She does eye lash extensions and make up.  I don't know what her prices are but i know a few people who use her and like her a lot.

    I have 2 recommendations - DO NOT use Empire Faces - fortunately I did a trial with them and it was so bad, that I was able to book with someone else for my wedding day.  Instead, myself and all my bridesmaids went to Beautique in Rice Village - there were 3 girls there doing makeup - all were wonderful and all we all looked stunning! The price was very affordable as well - $55 or $65/ person.

    I'm using Josephine's Day Spa and Salon.  They quoted $60 for makeup and they do not accept gratuities.  Very calm environment.

    Thank you so much, ladies. I will check these out. I'm also trying to find beauty schools that will hopefully do it for a little less. We'll see ...

    By coincidence, I got this email from Sephora today for special occassion makeup and they do airbrush foundation as well...

    My best friend and I used Julie Luna
    http://www.lalunaimages.com/ for her wedding (I was MoH).   One of our other friends also used her when she was a bride. We were all really happy.  And she's really cheap!!

    Empire Faces did my trial recently, they are awesome.  They do airbrush makeup, hair & eyelash extensions.  Also they do photos for reference.

    I had the completely opposite experience with Empire Faces - my trial was horrible.  To the bride that initially posed the question - wherever you go for a trial, make sure you don't sign a contract that locks you in to using the vendor for the wedding day (Empire Faces requires you to sign a contract with a $250 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to do the trial).  This is the only hair/makeup vendor I ran across in my search that operates that way, but wanted you to beware - because the trial may not be what you want for your wedding day, so be cautious of doing a trial with any hair/makeup artist who is requiring you to do this.

    I just did my trial with Empire Faces near the galleria and loved it!  I brought a picture with me at their recommendation, and it looked exactly like the photo.  They do airbrush and hair and lashes, and they were so nice! I met several people from their photography team there too. They do an amazing job. My friend had her wedding done by them in late May, and the entire bridal party looked gorgeous! They also have a large gallery online of before & afters of their work too.
