Hello...I have been lurking for a bit. I got my dress back in October from DB. I am starting to look into everything else to go along with it. Let me first post a link for my dress:
here (I purchased it in white, which a picture of that color is not shown).
I have been reading threads on here and researching online, but I am still very lost on when it comes with what the wear underneath. I am clueless when it comes to shapewear as I have never wore it before. I went to Kohls and Boston Store the other day and tried one of almost everything, but really was not crazy about any of it. My main focus is my stomach area. The dress itself is pretty flattering and I am trying to get serious about working out and eating better (working a desk job has been killer on my body these past few years and metabolism is finally catching up), but I would still like something to help me out a bit to smooth things out. Any suggestions with this style of dress and my target area of what to wear...spanx, waist cincher, bustier, etc.?
Is it absolutely necessary I get a slip? I feel it looks fine on its own and do not need/want to it to "enhance" it. The description online for the dress says "fully lined" if that means anything, but there are a few layers already in the dress. My other worry is if the dress will rub. Unfortunately, the dress is at my parents house, so I can't remember off the top of my head if there is a layer built in that won't rub, but if there is not, would a basic dress slip work also work?
For alterations I know I need a bustle, but I have been thinking about having the zipper taken out and a corset put in. The dress surprisingly fits pretty perfect right now, so I do not believe I need anything taken in or out, but in the last year of trying to lose weight, I have fluctuated a bit. My question is, would a corset be a good "safe measure" to get to compensate for whatever my weight ends up being if it's down a bit or the same as currently (I would want to lose about 5-10 lb). I was also considering it to have better posture on my wedding day, I am tall, so I have bad posture and slouch a lot as it is.
Last question, I bought some basic white flats and they are not the same white as my dress, will this look bad? I know my shoes won't be too noticeable since it is a ball gown, but I guess I am still paranoid. I was thinking of jazzing them up myself. My main color is purple, so I wanted to get purple lace and use fabric glue like
this. Do you think this would help make the different shade of white not as noticeable? If not, then I might try to return them while I still can.
I apologize for so many questions! I am happy for any advice for any of the questions/concerns.
