  I think the easiest thing to do is select a type of fabric/color/store and have them select the style that fits them best. My youngest bridesmaid is my 16 yr old cousin and my friends are 25-28, and all different sizes so I know finding one dress isn't going to work for us. I have seen the MOH wear different a different color/style than the other maids as well. I'd look on pinterest for ideas or just flip through a magazine. If the men are wearing jeans and a vest, sundresses could be really nice.

  The best thing to do here is not insist upon matching dresses. Honestly, I've only been to one wedding out of probably 25 where the bridesmaids all matched.

  I had 3 bridesmaids ranging from late 20's to early 40's.  They def had different styles and wouldn't have looked right/felt comfy in the same style dresses.  I picked the color and let them pick what they wanted and it worked out fine.

  This is why I plan on picking a designer, length, color and fabric and saying "Pick your own".  Then each girl can pick a style of dress based on what she likes and feels the most comfortable in.  Bonus points if it turns out to be a dress they can/will wear again.

  Have you considered LBDs?  Then your bridesmaids may even have a black dress they love and feel comfortable in.
