Online dress stores....help!

I have a budget wedding...I was looking at ordering a dress online but I am worried about buying a scam dress or getting a dress that is so badly made that it is unwearable...

In particular I would like to know about Adoringdress.com..
Their dresses are rather cheap but is that a good reason to stay away?

Also does anyone know of budget online wedding stores that actually deliver a good product?
thanks in advance

Re: Online dress stores....help!

  • If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I would stick to stores linked with well known brick and mortar stores (Ann Taylor, David's Bridal, J Crew, etc) or possibly an Etsy designer with many reviews. David's Bridal has plenty of dresses $100-400. Stores like ASOS and Modcloth also have some full length white dresses for less than $300.

I wouldn't take a risk on an unknown store for something so important. I hope you find something you love!
  • Yeah, those Chinese knockoff sites are just making copies of the photos and generally with inferior materials and craftsmanship. You aren't going to get the same dress shown in the photo, but rather a slapped-together version of it. Some people have gotten lucky, but I wouldn't take the risk unless it was money I was willing to lose. I got my veil from one of those sites but it was only $10 and I figured that if it looked like crap I just wouldn't wear one. It was fine but I'd never take that risk on a dress.

David's Bridal has tons of cheap dresses and you can order online for way more selection than in the stores. I got mine there during a $99 sale, just measuring off the size chart and I don't even need alterations, actually. They've got a return policy too (although maybe not for the clearance stuff, I'm not sure.) It's not couture or anything but if you're on a budget you really don't need to be paying for a designer's name, you know?

  • try the Vows Bridal Outlet website

  • I had excellent luck with weddingshoppeinc.com. I was sceptical so I checked the better business bureau of Minnesota and they are legit and have a free standing store. Talk about great prices. Quality and selection for brides, maids and accessories. I even got free shipping and a group discount on my BM dresses.
  • I had a great experience with simplybridal.com. They allow returns.
