Wedding Woes

Good morning

How was the loooooong weekend and the holiday?

NYE we let the kids have sparkling cider, blow horns, and throw streamers, then shipped them to bed at 8pm.  NYD was low key.  We got to play outside and put away Christmas stuff.  Friday I got a 4" of hair cut off then did some returns of kid clothes.  I used the JCP credit towards bras for me, but I have about another $75 at kid stores.  I went to the grocery alone then picked up Chinese for lunch.

Saturday we went to a winter Farmer's Market and played outside.  Yesterday I went to Aldi.  5 days and I went to the grocery twice by myself.  I managed to knock out some cooking though- red onion chutney, burritos, meatballs, black bean burgers.  I love having stuff in the freezer.

The weather this week is supposed to suck.  I may very well cry real tears if school is cancelled tomorrow.  6let hasn't been in school for 3 wks.  It's also possible my mom group could be cancelled this week.  Blergh.

I'm also still annoyed at gMIL's 90th birthday.  The invite is horrid.  The food is horrid.  They hate my one idea and bastardized the other so it's not as good.  She deserves so much better.

Re: Good morning

  • Oh and FIL and SMIL are taking the kids next Saturday.  DH and I have big plans to hit a home expo and try a new to us restaurant.
  • Hello and happy 2015.

Let's see: NYE dinner party was great.  We played cards against humanity and I totally peed a little from laughing so damn hard.

New Year's Day...I was really hungover which totally sucked.  We had dinner at mom and dad's.

01/02-Off work for me.  We de-Christmased the house and then the kids and I ran around doing returns and some shopping.

Saturday-DH worked.  It was a nasty, rainy day.  I got a new color and cut and then the kids and I vegged all day.

Sunday-The kiddo and I did some early shopping and then we watched football the rest of the day.

I have a three-headed monster zit and it hurts so bad.  I also think I have an infected salivary gland.  Of course, DH is working a monster day and it's my first day back to work after a holiday.  And we don't have our new insurance cards for 2015.  So...yeah...The minute clinic may have to wait until tomorrow. It doesn't hurt too bad...yet. Yay for ibuprofen...I guess.
  • Oh and DH's job just sucks.  I get that it's a start up and they have a lot of shit to iron out.  But his director has his head so far up his ass that he makes things worse.  DH said everyone (all the supervisors) are looking for new jobs.  If someone leaves, it's going to be even worse. DH is casually looking, but unless something spectacular comes along he wants to stay until he's been there 18 to 2 years.  But, this 6 days a week/12 hours a day is killing both of us.  He's not present when he's home because he's so tired.  My house is a constant mess because I can only do so much working myself and doing *everything* related to the house and kids.  Here's hoping he doesn't have to work this weekend (especially since it's my weekend to work). ::le sigh:: /rant
  • I'm sorry conn.  That's hard.
  • Thanks.  I know he hates just as much as I do.  I really feel bad for the kids because DH is grouchy more often than not when he gets home.  The kiddo even said something to my sister about DH "getting home at 7 and in a bad mood every night."  ::bigger sigh::
  • I'm sorry Conn. I know the feeling with H out of state at least half of every month. It's fucking hard to do it all.

NYE started out with a bang, so to speak. PF came to work with me that morning since I was only working a 1/2 day and H had a ton to get done. Just as we were getting ready to head out the door she took a tumble off of a chair and landed on her mouth. She has no protective reflexes. Her PT is working on them. Anyway, she managed to cut up her gums really badly and push her two front teeth up into her gums. An x-ray at the dentist showed that her permanent teeth are ok. Her pushed up teeth will descend within 6-8 months back to where they were. We do have to keep an eye on her baby teeth to see if they weaken. If they start to have problems they'll have to be pulled. As of now, I swab her mouth 3-5 times a day with an antibiotic rinse and she's acting like nothings up.

Rest of the weekend was good. I finally got my car. She's a 1999 camry with 63K miles on her. She was my gram's, then my mom's and now mine. She's old, rattle-y, has no bells or whistles, and is old lady beige. I named her Edna.

I could do with a day at home sans child, but instead I'm at work.
  • DH tried to start a fight on NYE.  I didn't feel like playing into his BS, so I went to bed.  We had a serious conversation the next day and I think I finally maybe pounded some things through into his head about what a serious a$$hole he's been recently.

We had a game day with some friends in there.  Great New Year's Day brunch with other friends.  Other than that, we were seriously lazy.  Having a full week of work with full days is going to suck so bad.
  • I was here on 1/2 it was pretty lonely.

NYE was fun, two different parties, missed the countdown---did a super awkward NY kiss with H.  That we both just brushed off.  It was our 12 year "Immariskit"-versary.  So I was a bit nostalgic.

NYday was okay.  I spent the day with H sanding/staining stair treads and then the last X-mas party with the ILs.

I'm in the post-holiday slump and I'm just beat.  We are in the home home HOME stretch of working on the old house.  2 walls to paint, one area to clean and we're good.  I think H and I will sleep about a week straight after we're finished.  And he still has to clean out his work area.  Eeek.  I bet he'll just kick ass on that.

Also, a GC wants to do a groundbreaking tomorrow---yeah...okay...it's going to be a high of 10 degrees with windchill of -15.  And between now and tomorrow it's supposed to snow.  So we'll dump a pile of sand so some office peeps can come down...pull the tarp off---throw a shovel in it and take a picture.  Have fun with that...I'll be in my warm office.
  • Dixie, poor baby. I hope she's doing better.

I spent NYE with the elderly crowd at my Mom's. They're funny, though. I went home for a week and only gained half a pound. How did that happen? I ate a lot, but I did go to the gym with my mom a few days, so I think that made the difference.

  • She's doing MUCH better, @NOLAbridesmaid. Once the initial "ouch" was over she was acting like nothing happened. Her smile is different now, though.
  • Morning, actually afternoon.

Just lots of stuff this morning. One of the dogs is starting to get old and is having some issues with food. So we're on that ledge of trying to decide what we need to do with her and it sucks.

NYE was spent at my parent's house. We went out for dinner for my sister's fiance's birthday, then drank champagne at home. I slept over there with the kids and it was miserable. DD apparently can only sleep two places- home and daycare. The entire night she was up every 90 minutes and then decided she was done at 6:30 am. She normally sleeps till about 7:30 am. I have no idea what I'm going to do iwth her when we travel this year. I'm dreading it.

Saturday we spent at my parent's house and celebrated a very belated Christmas. The kids (and us) were thoroughly spoiled, and then we spent yesterday putting together all of the gifts.

I love the holidays, but today's daycare drop off felt so good.
  • It was such a relief to get PF on the bus this morning. I need her to get back into her normal routine. I haven't slept in days because she's all screwed up.
  • Drop off with DefConn was great.  He was very happy to be at school.

In the mornings, we take his stuff to his classroom and then head next door where they gather before the day begins.  When we put up his stuff and go to head next door, he does the cutest and funniest little skip-run.
