How soon is too soon?

Getting married 11/14/15. Is it too soon to go looking for dresses?

Re: How soon is too soon?

  • No way! I bought mine 11 months out, and I'm really glad I did because I've been able to make my wedding decor complement my dress. For example, my dress has silver beading that looks like vines for flower beading all over the bodice. I love gold, but I realized after I bought my dress that if I put a lot of gold in my decorations, it would downplay all the silver in my dress. My dress is beautiful and is going to be one of the things everyone is looking at that day, as I'm sure yours will be. You want your decor to  complement you and the dress you are wearing. It's one of the surprising things I realized after I bought my dress when I started planning decor! Have fun! And don't bring too many people dress shopping. 2-3 is perfect!
  • I don't think it's to soon.  My dress took 6 months to come in.  If you start to look now, it gives you plenty of time to find what you want, get it ordered and altered (if needed).  Have fun!!!
  • Not at all I bought my dress in November, it will not coming until march. I agree with everyone it will give you time to get alteration and your other stuff together. Congrats! Have fun looking for your dress!

No way! I bought my dress early and I'm glad I did. It took months to come in and then the seamstress said that its needs taken in so many places that I should've ordered down a size (which was talked about but it was hard to guess because the one i tried on was 4 sizes too big and clipped). Since it hadn't been taken out of the bag they just took it back and re-ordered.

If I had waited then I would be frantic, but now i still have plenty of time and don't have to stress.

Also, not everyone finds "the one" the first time they shop so give yourself time just in case you need to look multiple places. Hope you find the perfect dress!
