Renting the Dress

Hello,

I'm a bride from Maine getting married in the Spring of 2016 and I just have no desire to BUY my wedding dress. I will never wear it again after the day and just think its a silly investment. Are there places that rent dresses? How much does that usually cost? Are the selections good? I'd love to hear from somebody who has actually done this.

Thanks!

Re: Renting the Dress

  • I didn't rent my wedding dress (but absolutely would've if I could've rented the dress I picked!)  Have you looked at Rent the Runway?  They have lots of white evening gowns and even a bridal section.  Even if you don't end up wanting to rent a dress from there, they have earrings, sashes, veils, etc.
  • In addition to Rent the Runway, consider buying a used wedding dress. preownedweddingdresses.com has a ton of options. I have no idea if it'd be cheaper to rent or buy used, but I imagine it might be similar, plus you can keep the dress when it's all said and done.

  • I am very interested in renting a wedding dress as well, but am unsure how it all works though. As in, do you buy a dress that needs no alterations? Then, what if it does need alterations?
  • Also, if you purchase a dress you can sell it to regain some of the money.
