Navy Suits

I watched a little of the Golden Globes with FI and we now want to change the suit color from gray to navy.  Nothing is ordered, I have 8 months left.  Anyone going with navy suits and if yes what color bridesmaids dresses did you get. White or Ivory gown?  Late Sept wedding.

Re: Navy Suits

  • You can do navy regardless of the color of your gown and bridesmaids' dresses/gowns.

The only thing to think about--do the groomsmen have to order suits?  If they already had gray, then making them rent just to do navy could be inconsiderate if any are on a budget that this strains.  We did black for this reason--no one had to buy/rent anything.
  • No one has either, plus we decided to pay for all.

  • I consider navy a neutral because so many colors coordinate well with it.

As for your gown, unless you are set on a pure white gown, most wedding gowns are a variation of white/off-white.  But if you bought a champagne or true ivory gown it would go very well with a navy suit.

As for your BM dresses/overall colors, pretty much anything goes.

  • We're doing navy suits! With coral bridesmaid dresses. I thought navy looked best with the coral, plus it seemed like an easier color to match with all the guys buying theirs different places, or wearing one they already own. Lots of shades of grey but navy is navy.

  • I think the only color BM dresses I'd stay away from with navy suits is more navy. Anything else is fine.

  • Navy suits look great with antique pink. not baby pink, but antique, dusty rose, almost along the lines of skin tone pink. Also, a light yellow would look great too, not baby yellow or bright yellow that you would use in a baby's room, but a soft pastel yellow. and chiffon material is best for these colors with navy. the loud, harsh fabric is too "attacking" for navy.
  • Knottie26176590 Dusty rose, blush pink is what I am leaning towards in chiffon, I have yet to get a dress and I am in between 2; one lace one satin, maybe satin will be too harsh?  I feel like the clock is ticking if I am going to buy off the rack.

  • I want to do navy suits too!  But I am have SUCH a hard time trying to find a place where the guys can rent a navy suit.
We have 2 groomsmen who live in CA ( we're in NY ) and we wanted they guys to rent from Mens Warehouse or somewhere that are on both coasts.
    Do you have any suggestions?

As for the BM's dresses, I am doing neutral tones like blush, beige and gold.

  • @chrisig8 - Honestly, I would just have the guys buy a nice navy suit.  It will be the same if not a bit less then renting one.  And every guy can use a dark suit.

  • chrisig8 I did not even think navy would be hard to find!  I will start searching.
