How to address STD's and invites when she didn't change her last name?

How do I address save the dates and invitations to a married couple when the woman has not changed her last name?  I have a cousin and a co-worker that I am confused about.  I understand the proper titles would be Mr and Mrs. John Doe but what if that is not her last name?  What is she is Jane Smith? Is she still is Mrs.?

Also, my co-worker already has a hyphenated last name and neither names are her husband's.  She is Jane Smith-Johnson and he is John Doe. Is she also Mrs. Doe? Thank you so much for any help!  Sorry if this is confusing!

  • For couples who are married but do not share the same last name I believe it is...

Ms. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith

And it would be the same for your second example with the hyphenated last name

Ms. Jane Smith-Johnson and Mr. John Doe.

The "and" denotes that the two individuals are married.
