Escort Card Wording

We are having a formal wedding. A few of the escort cards might get confusing to some of my guests so I was wondering what the correct verbiage might be. Here are examples of what I was thinking of doing

We have three "families" that will be joining us. All three of the "Lastname Family" there is another person with that same last name. Should we put:

"The Lastname Family" regardless.
"Mr & Mrs. FirstnameGuy Lastname and family"
"Mr & Mrs. FirstnameGuy Lastname" and then the children get their own card "The Misses Lastname"

Or something completely different I haven't thought of?

Re: Escort Card Wording

  • I would put "Mr. and Mrs. Firstname Lastname" Or "Mary and John Lastname."  I would make individual escort cards for the children if they're old enough to read. For toddlers, I'd add and children to the parents escort cards.

Is it proper to put the "Misses Lastname" to cover two girls? Or should I probably add their first names?

  • IDK, but I would make them each a card because I think they'd get a kick out of it.

  • Yeah, I wouldn't do "and Family" because what if you have a 16 year old cousin you want to add to a table with your 21 and 25 year old cousins rather than with their parents?

And, having just finished reading Pride & Prejudice, only the oldest single daughter is Miss Bennett.  The other daughters are Elizabeth and Mary.  But once Miss Bennett is married, the Elizabeth becomes Miss Bennett.
  • Mr. & Mrs. John Smith & family
