Sweet Gesture

I forgot to mention this when it came, but I was putting things away today and snapped this pic.

A few weeks before Christmas, I received a package in the mail from our photographers. We'd had our pictures for months, so I couldn't figure out why they'd be sending us something.

Turns out they had taken one of our programs, cut it into strips to show off the information, and made a super cute ornament!

Have any of your vendors done sweet things that were totally random but really cool?

  • I like that you're just now taking down your Christmas tree. If it were up to me, that sumbitch would stay up til February. But H disagreed.

We had Thanksgiving dinner with H's family at the golf club, like they do every year - the same club which was also our wedding venue. When we got there the table they had reserved for us was right in the window where our ceremony took place. I like to think that was on purpose. :)

  • Aw... That is sweet. Our officient gave us a framed decorated copy of our ceremony transcript for Solstice.
  • Our photographer sent us an ornament with a wedding photo on it. It's on our mini-tree that's still set up...

We usually take our tree down on Epiphany, but I asked DH if we could keep it up until my birthday this year (next week). He said no. I haz a sad. :(

What?! Just decorate it with birthday stuff. :) Take off the santas and add bows, a paper chain made of wrapping paper, and garland made of cupcake wrappers. :)

  • This is sort of in the opposite direction:

Our coordinator sent us an email after our wedding saying that her and her fiancé were so moved by our intimate ceremony that they decided to get married with the same officiant at city hall also with just their parents in attendance!

We made note of the date she mentioned and sent her a nice card and a small gift the week-of. :)

    That's so sweet!

My MIL asked for our officiant's contact info the other day and I have no idea why. A few days later she told us H's cousin got engaged to her BF, but I highly doubt that was why. Maybe to refer a friend's kid or something.

Growing up, we always took our big tree down on Epiphany.

My mom puts up a smaller tree also and after Christmas it turns into the Mardi Gras tree. Adequately tacky for the theme, of course.

I so don't see DH going for that! I mean, I see his point since we had to put one of our recliners into storage to put the tree up AND the tree actually blocks half of the narrow walkway to the kitchen. But... lazy. And it's been so cold out. I don't want to spend time moving boxes in and out of our apartment then spend more time moving boxes in and out of my mom's house to get everything re-situated. LAZY!

  • Super cute, @Inkdancer!  My mom actually did that for us with our invitation :)  It looks so pretty with all the colours (I used white and royal blue cardstock, and painted red and yellow roses on them).

Tree stays up until my birthday (January 1st), and then comes down at the first available opportunity.  This year it was the 5th, since my parents were here for a few days, and that was the day they left.

  • that is super cute and very sweet of your photographer.

On our first anniversary we went to our venue (country club) on our way to our anniversary plans.  We originally were going to have a picnic/champagne there but ending up leaving later than planned due to the birth of our nephew.  When we got to the venue we went out by one of our favorite views and were just going to take a pic.  We saw our coordinator as we were walking past and waved.  A few minutes later they brought us some champagne and strawberries.  We thought that was thoughtful.

I leave my tree up until at least Epiphany, but I didn't get a chance to take it down last week, so I did it this week. DH took down the outside decorations before that so the neighbors wouldn't be embarassed by us.

  • That is so cute!!

Our officiant gave us a bound copy of our ceremony.  For some reason, she also took the tissue that I used to wipe away some tears during H's vows and included it in a plastic sleeve in the back.  Yay?

Our photographer sent us our photos (on a jump drive) in a beautiful decorated box with a note and some prints (that were "extras"). It was beautiful and such a nice touch- and they sent it less than a week before they had their new baby!
Probably the sweetest thing is our caterer owns a restaurant that my parents go to regularly. We got married the day after my parents anniversary which means that they weren't really able to celebrate. The week after we got married, my parents went to the restaurant the caterer owns to celebrate their anniversary late and the guy picked up their tab and brought them wine. He REALLY likes our family and I think he was really touched that we asked him to cater our wedding (it was four hours away).
