Wedding Venue in Newark/Harrison/Hudson County Area?!

I'm from the Lehigh Valley, Pa but my family is born and bred from Newark, NJ.  I'm having my ceremony at OLC in Harrison where my grandparents and parents were married and I was baptized; i.e. a lot of history there, any way because I'm not from the area I'm having a hard time finding a venue.

I'm looking to have something fairly small (hopefully less than a hundred guests) and keeping it as cheap as possible, does anyone know of any where off the top of their heads or can think of a place to start?

Any help/advice is welcome and appreciated I really just need a place to start! Thanks!

  • http://www.newarkclub.com/ (inside the seton hall law building across from nwk penn station - nice venue but no parking)

http://www.newarkmuseum.org/EventRentals.html - (behind all the colleges - also nice, plenty of parking, $7 a car).

http://www.frungillo.com/frungillo_new/mez/ - (this is a space called the mezzanine, it's atop an office building on broad street, really beautiful but they use this caterer exclusively)

that's all I got off the top of my head, but if you're willing to consider getting married anywhere in the rest of essex county in say a town that's within a 10 minute drive of newark, your options will get a lot more broad.  (women's clubs of glen ridge and montclair, montclair art museum, kean college in springfield, etc.)

    good luck!

  • I second Newark Club!  My sister got married there and it was beautiful.  What about Liberty House?  We just got married there in Oct and it was absolutely stunning.

  • You will find a lot of reception halls are very close to that area due to the proximity of the highways.
Highlawn Pavillion, The Manor, The Atrium, Wilshire Grand (all in West Orange)
    The Bethwood is in Totowa
    Richfield Regency
All of the above are fairly affordable.  Good luck!
  • You could probably check out any of the Spanish restaurants in the Ironbound area. Don Pepe, Forno's of Spain, etc.
  • Newark club is expensive! I was quoted an etimate of $32,000 for 200 guests!

How about the Robert Treat Hotel?
